Couldn't post this yesterday as the site was down.

During the NHL’s hiatus, we at the Last Word on Hockey are going to look back at each date’s historical significance to the game. We’ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here’s our look at this date in hockey history for March 25th, featuring Wayne Gretzky.

His first 200 point season comes in 1982, in a game against Calgary.

Glen Sather was pissed after this game, because The Flames (their 2nd year in Calgary and still playing at the old Calgary Corral) made no announcement of any sort (jumbo-tron or whatnot) of Gretzky's reaching 200 points.

For the five seasons 1981-82 to 1985-86, Gretzky's seasonal average per 80 games was:
76 goals
134 assists
210 points
+79

Over this five-year period, the 2nd-top scoring guy in the NHL (Mike Bossy) was a mere 413 points behind Wayne.
