Just got home from a trip to toronto, so naturally missed today's action.

checked espn to see what happened, and i was very pleased.

there was a time when the NHL would be pushed straight to the headlines section.

They're frequently on the top page overlay and has been since around... february or so.

They've had some good 10-15 minute hockey segments on sportscenter as well.

Still getting heavily under-utilized...but the coverage is miles and miles above what we saw 5/6 years ago. Still less than it was 10 years ago, though...but then again ESPN didn't have NASCAR and the NBA back then.

These playoffs have been great for the NHL. They had the playoffs as a topic on Around the Horn, and all four journalists agreed that the NHL playoffs are the best post-season in professional sports. And I love on Deadspin how the open thread for the NHL playoffs has the category of "HOCKEY", while the NBA playoff thread is categorized "NOTHOCKEY".

Been a lot more hockey talk on Around the Horn than I've ever seen before.
