Put it this way - if this move is meant to precipitate Dale Weise's return to the lineup, as has been speculated, where on the roster will Jeremy Welsh fall? It looks to me as though he would become the 13th forward. I think he'd be better served in Utica, developing, if this is the case.

Put it this way - David Booth continues to look like he has zero acceleration, zero puck control, zero defensive coverage, zero passing, zero hitting, and zero finish. His act is running real thin. I will not be surprised whatsoever if he finds himself as a 4th liner or scratched next game.

Welsh falls as the 4th line Center/13th forward depending on how the team decides they are going to use Richardson, Booth and Sestito. Sestito knows his role and at least he is willing to hit and fight. Richardson should be in the top 9 right now with how our roster looks. He is getting moved up part way through the game anyways.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Higgins Kesler Hansen/Kassian
Richardson Santorelli Hansen/Kassian
Booth/Sestito Welsh Weise
Booth/Sestito Dalpe

This is what it should look like. Booth's leash is so short at this point. he should not be getting anymore chances and if welsh staying up is an indication i don't think he will.

Interesting on Matthias. Although if the Panthers are asking for Corrado, they'd better be prepared to give up a heck of a lot more than Matthias...

Torts said early on he'd prefer to have 7D & 14 forwards on the roster.

Alberts & Weber have both looked like crap this season, but Alberts at least has a history of being a serviceable 6th D in an emergency. Alberts actually looked pretty solid last season.
Better to have the 7th guy as a physical stay at home guy then as an undersized PP specialist.

I can't believe people, deep down in their hearts, actually truly care which one of the 7/8/9 D-men got waived.

:shakehead If MG makes another trade with the Panthers, and gives up Frankie and we don't get someone back whose name either rhymes with pooberjoe or mudpantson, I will completely lose my mind.

We don't need mudpantson, we already have an issue with having too many top 4 guys and not enough forwards.

Frankie is untouchable. He's literally our only high end defense prospect.

thing that bugs me is that Archiblad has played better than Dalpe and fits the 4th line role better yet they sent him down. Gillis sort of contradicts himself when he said they will always keep whoever is playing the best and then goes and makes these kinds of moves.

There isn't a team in the league who's won the cup in the last 5 years who hasn't had someone who can really score from the second line. Pure goal scorer type. Would love to see a guy like Kane with Kesler on the second line.

I think if the right move is available, you could look at moving Corrado for a forward prospect of similar calibre.

The acquisition of Stanton had really done a lot to steady our defensive depth, while our forward depth (particularly at centre) is quite lacking.

In all honesty, I'd rather trade Edler for a great package and keep Corrado.

Unfortunately it's the NTC thing again.

Need to get rid of atleast one high priced d-man to get help upfront.

Yeah I would only move a prospect for a prospect. Sick of the Canucks trading away picks and prospects for nothing. Listening to Dallas Stars radio guy on team1040 yesterday talking about how Connauton is going to be a good D for them in the future. These types of trades where we give up a player for a rental has become a common occurrence.

Connauton is really bad dude. He got sent down on a conditioning stint a la Booth and has played a grand total of 2 games. He's not even in top 3 Stars best d prospects.

The thing is we need to have a young guy like Corrado who has more offensive vision and touch than Stanton, Tanev, etc.

At this point neither Weber or Alberts get picked up. Weber, however, helps Utica a lot more than Alberts.

i'd like to think weber goes down to utica, learns the system (it's our own farm team now, so presumably they're preaching continuity down there), and as he's learning what torts and co could potentially want from him as a PP QB, works with corrado to teach the kid how to man the point at the NHL level, how NHL PKs will pressure the points and how to react accordingly.

probably a pipe dream though.
