Proposal: Yandle to LA to improve their PP and brings some laughs to Hollywood

Discussion in 'Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk' started by TheImpatientPanther, Sep 11, 2020.

?

Good trade for both teams?

  1. LA - Hello no, not the right move for Kings right now

  2. LA - Don't hate it but don't love it, it's a maybe

  3. LA - It's a good deal, we can make it work

  4. FLA - Hello no, Yandle is still needed with Panthers

  5. FLA - it helps clear cap space but is the return good enough?

  6. FLA - Yes, this works for both teams, we need LW depth

    Last 6 years:

    Barrie:
65 goals, 230 assits for 295 points in 448 games
15 PP goals, 100 assists, 115 PP points
48 ES goals, 131 assists, 179 ES points

    Yandle:
38 goals, 265 assists for 303 points in 481 games (he played 84 games in '14-15 going from ARI to NYR)
16 PP goals, 131 assists, 147 PP points
22 ES goals, 131 assists, 153 ES points

    Barrie P/G = 0.6584
    Yandle P/G = 0.6299

    Barrie PPP/G = 0.2566
    Yandle PPP/G = 0.3180

    Barrie ESP/G = 0.3995
    Yandle ESP/G = 0.3180

Barrie is the better goal scorer in general and better point getter on even strength and Yandle is the better PPQB.
Although Yandle has more points the last two seasons between them.
    Just giving some context.

What kind of contract do you think Barrie would accept?

It's useful context, though Barrie is also 5 years younger and costs us no assets.

Really don't know what he'd accept and that's the key, obviously, and Yandle's actual cash vs cap is probably actually pretty appealing in this environment. For Barrie it's what's his contract look like; for Yandle it's what else are we getting, because if we're taking on cap/salary to actively help another team, history has shown that comes at a premium.

To be honest I'm on the go and can't put the thought into it that i'd normally like to so will revisit tonight

Expect something pretty decent for him. He's got exact same points in nearly the same amount of games as Krug.
Now I think Barrie's UFA value took a bit of a hit in TOR this year but his resume shows he is a solid offensive defenseman. Could see Krug get a bigger payday based off more playoff experience.

Krug has 11 goals, 52 pts in 75 playoff games
Barrie has 1 goal, 14pts in 26 playoff games

I see something like Shattenkirk's deal from a couple years ago, 4yrs x $6.5~ million for Barrie.
Krug may get more term and 250-400k more a year.

They're tied for 8th in total points among all d-men those last 6 years, 8pts behind 7th place Yandle :D

    Those last 6 years:
    Both are 29 years old.

Krug: 53 goals, 242 assists, 295 points in 441 games
Barrie: 65 goals, 230 assists, 295 points in 448 games

Here's their 5 on 5 fancy stats the past two years.

the age, the price, the term is illogical for LA, we're not competing this season nor next, we'd rather develop our own than to fill up a spot for comedy

Fat chance Yandle waives his NMC with $16M remaining to take California's income tax over Florida's.

Yandle is not what he was we all slow down.
That said, on his worst day, his D is still WAY better than Barrie
-- btw, these are Ds we are talking about?

    True, but
that's more important to regular folk
if you've earned millions and you are set up to generate six figure income when you retire, it is possible other considerations come into play.

Your point is wholly valid but I suspect it means less to a vet who has already banked signif earnings than an emerging guy looking for his first big payday.

But both are nice, warm states; bottom line considerations may be fit w/team, coach, system, etc
