Arguably the best defenseman to come out of the USHSE System in quite awhile.

Heavily recruited but chose the Major Junior route instead.

Could've been a 2nd round pick had he opted in for 04.

Big offensive upside from the blue line, IMO not far off from Matt Niskanen.

Age?

So he didn't opt in in '04, was he selected in '05?

Keith is 19 years old. He will be 20 on September 9th. He opted out of the 2004 draft and was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 4th round (105th overall) in 2005. He played two years for Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, and was the #1 USHSE prospect for the 2005 draft by Hockey's Future. He originally committed to go to UNH, where his brother played, but switched to Maine. Yandle said the switch because Maine had scholarship money. Keith also participated in USA's National Junior Evaluation Camp two weeks ago. He has good size at 6-2' 200 pounds. And is known for his ability to quarterback the power play.
