This is the second edition of the Edmonton Oilers yearly prospect awards. After missing the playoffs for the seventh year in a row, the Oilers are looking to make some big changes in their roster and have a strong reliance on a deep prospect pool. The 2012-13 season saw great improvements for some, while others fell short of expectations. The Oilers have some strong defensive prospects in the pipeline with a mix of skilled but not yet fully-developed talent on their front end.

The Finnish guy going to the KHL because he doesn't want to put in the effort to crack the roster is a harder worker than the Russian guy who left the KHL along with his family so he could dedicate himself to the NHL. Yeah ok.:help:

Not that black and white.

Imagine working overseas in Europe for a minimalistic salary in a highly competetive field, away from any friends and family, or any support network in general. Nobody REALLY appreciates you, and the company you are with is considered a huge joke, and the management has schuffled nearly annually since your time started there.

But then out of ALL of that uncertainty, you're offered 20x your salary to move closer to home in the USA.

:/

Are you honestly telling me you would not take it?

Perfectly said.

Funny how the signing thread went from "Damn, he was a good prospect" to "he must have a crappy attitude and we don't need him" so quickly.

Harti does not have a crappy attitude. He was a 6th round pick who in like three years worked his way up the Oilers' system and was a key cog in back to back trips to the AHL conference finals. He took a one year contract to play in the NHL because the Oilers decided he wasn't ready. I don't blame him at all.
