Early yet but very promising early returns. He's got six points in eight games and is playing within himself. I was a skeptic, mainly thinking he'd routinely wilt defensively, but he's fine in that regard, adds some PP pop and makes strong outlets. Again, early, but he's on track to have a solid bounce back type season if his early play is any indication.

I like J Schultz, I was sad he didn't work in Edmonton.

I liked JS in Pittsburgh until after the 2017 Cup win, call it changes in the Pens coaching system or whatever you want but the team's defensive structure just has not looked anywhere near as good since then and I think JS struggled immensely as a result.

In Edmonton he was asked to do to much with expectations too high. In Pittsburgh he found a great spot for a few years as a 3-4 and PP specialist in a system with good structure, in which he excelled in. In Washington I was mostly worried about his injuries but if he has overcome those to the best that he can I know that he can still be quite serviceable.
