Sure, 30 goals is nice. But "close to 7 million" is not fine for 50 point guys. I hope for Winnipeg's sake, he does better this season.

If Marner settles as a 70-80 point player is 11 million nice? He got his contract off a season where scoring exploded across the board

Laines contract is much less risky and all the upside is still there

<7 million for 30 goals is fine, see Evander Kane

7 million for 30 goals is fine, but he needs to have assists, and drive play more. It can't just be 30 goals and 10 assists, the Jets need more out of this kid.

How about 30 and 20? Or 30 and 26 like Mr. Kane?

It's actually 10.893 not 11

30 and 26 would be better for sure, or 30/30

I just want to see a more well roundedness to his game.
Everyone does but his pay right now is consistent with his performance. We'll see hopefully it becomes an underpayment soon.

I think he’s for sure going to live up to this contract and get a solid long term one after. I also think he did pretty well on a 2 year deal, I was thinking even less on a 3 year.

6.5 for Laine is fine. He’s had 3 straight seasons of 30 goals and already a 2nd place finish for the rocket. He wasn’t great last season but I was surprised how good he looked last night. He was definitely quicker on the ice, and even a little physical. He’ll be motivated to get that long term deal done.

Not sure what you mean. You mean if He gets 14 over the following 3 years? Meaning 5 in total, same as AM (this 2 plus following 3)? If so that’s terrible logic. What if Matthews scores 50 the next 2 years as well? Laine would be older when he signs that contract thus giving him more opportunities to hit 50. If AM does it too then Laine gets 14 a year... then what? I’d rather have AMs contract.

People call Matthews inconsistent but he isn’t close to as inconsistent as Laine.
like mostly because he doesnt play when he is injured. he starts hot and comes back hot.

what am is during a full season is yet to be determined. (yes yes his rookie year but he was down a tier or two )

they are both wicked goal scorers tho even if the score a bit different.

The guy scored 18 in one month last year. Had 12 the rest of the year.

Mostly because of injuries? He played from mid December on and never was streaky like that.

I’d be pretty surprised if he doesn’t hit 70 points this season.

Marner got 94pts in this 3rd year and signed a 6 year deal, not a bridge. Somehow he's going to regress by 25%?

Laine's assists are goals off his rebounds.

This guy is on a 2 on 1 and he shoots 99.5% of the time.

Doubt he turns into a playmaker... he's a sniper pure and simple.

Put the playmaking center with him that's all.

Liked his game tonight. He had his slow, disinterested times but he showed some hustle, and moxie at times which is already way better than last year.
