So the 1st is now in the area of 18-21?

Lemieux was incredibly solid for us too and we cant wait to see him next year continue to improve.

Looks like it turned out for a big NYR win here. Though i dont understand why Hayes barely got any ice time??

Hayes was bad in the playoffs. Aside from the one goal he scored where he walked around everyone but that was more just bad defense. No way the Jets bring him back. They have other priorities.

Wouldn't mind him sticking around. His defensive positioning is great and is an excellent passer. Definitely not a terrible trade by any means. He will just want too much, likely, so I can't see the Jets retaining him.

The whole damn team was bad in the playoffs.
Not really. We were the (slightly) better team through 5 games by every metric. If you accept that the blues were a good team then it’s hard to say the jets were bad (other than that pathetic game 6 which was embarrassingly bad).

Hayes never ended up fitting in. It was a stupid trade when it happened and it is still stupid today

I have a sneaky suspicion that wherever he ends up next will pay off for that team. I kind of see it like when NYr’s trades for Eric Staal then he sucked in the Post season immediately after that he signs with Minnesota and it paid off for them.

it's kinda interesting and predictable that, when their teams fall in playoffs, fans either
hate the deadline deals they made,
or if, their team stood pat (Calgary, Tampa,) blame the not adding ...

as a NYR fan, the Eric Staal deal cited above is still an open wound,
NYR got the 2 worst months of his career.
While 'Canes just recalled 1 piece, Saarela, as an injury back-fill, and the kids they got w the 2 2d's are developing, and Staal has had 3 productive years w Wild

Stone is better... still wouldn't call him a 'superstar.' That's a bit of an oversell...

He actually is in every sense of the word. Every stat backs it up, his on ice play backs it up literally every player that has ever played with him consistently has had a career year.

Stone is a very good player and is better than Hayes. However Hayes is a better fit for the Jets and came at a more reasonable price. The more I see that contract for Stone, the more I think it is somewhat of an overpayment. Don't see how he is worth that much more than Wheeler. Jets would never be able to afford to sign him at that price.

How is Stone not worth 9.5 but Tavares is worth 11? Please explain that to me.

Hayes price was fine, it is Jets's fault if they couldn't find the right spot/use for him and are not interested in re-signing him. I would suggest getting a good coach to the Jets. Hayes is still a very good player.

Hayes played mostly on the 3rd and 4th line from what i watched. Scored 2 goals, 1 assists.
Icetime:
15.36
9.39
11.32
11.15
8.32
15.19

Not really much icetime for a center with 55 points in 71 games this season. Only played 6 minutes on the PP with the second unit. I only watched one game in this series but doesnt exactly look like he was put in a position to produce much offensively...

To plays devils advocate he got a lot of his points because of lots of ice time i on a poor NYR team. Similar to how Boedker was putting up decent points in Phoenix with plenty of ice time. Hayes is a 30-40 point pk specialist on contending teams. Winnipeg proved that.
