Would you swap 1 year of Jake Gardiner at $4.05m for 2 years of Justin Braun at $3.8m?

We're in win now mode, why would you call it a "band-aid" solution? We need a stop-gap solution until our younger d-men are ready to step up. Look at the team for crying out loud, minor additions and tweaks can be the difference between a cup win and a loss in the conference finals. If we're in game 7 against the Penguins and Hainsey takes a penalty with 3 minutes left in the 3rd in a tie game, you're seriously ok with the cast of PK'ing defensemen we got?
The season hasn’t even started and you’re crying for an upgrade we may not even need. “Win now” mode? Please we’re not San Jose. Take a breath. The team is still being evaluated, no need to waste assets on mediocre players.

From the Sharks perspective I don't see the point of a trade like this. They'd more likely deal from their defensive depth to fill some holes at forward, not just remodel the D again.

Will SJ throw in a bag of pucks too?

Can't we're hanging onto that so that Doug Wilson can send it to the Sens for Matt Duchene at the trade deadline. Clearly the Sharks' low-key goal for this year is to make sure that by the end of it Pierre Dorion devolves into panicky PTSD screaming fits when he sees a California phone number come up on his cell. :sarcasm:

You don't think we're not in win-now mode? Have you been living under a rock this summer? Did you happen to miss the whole signing a #1C franchise player thing and the whole having our next best players on the last year of their ELC?

I hate to break it to you tough guy, but this upcoming season could possibly be the Leafs best shot at the cup in the next 10 years. There's this little thing called a salary cap if you weren't aware. And when you got Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews playing for pennies, you damn well need to take advantage of it.

Don’t know why you’re being so hostile. The deal won’t happen, it’s pretty well reported Leafs management feels similarly about our dcore.

It’s always sky is falling in Leaf land.

We’ve got a deep prospect pool, great management, a young core and a lot of flexibility. The cap is always manageable and we have the best in the business as part of our organization.

Jake Gardiner is one of the best defenseman the Leafs have had in a long, long time. He's not the problem. Without him, we don't even make it to Game 7 against Boston.

Really hoping we sign him soon. The problem is who plays with Rielly and Gardiner. We need to put Rielly and Gardiner together...they have got some great results together but don't play much together.

I'd rather have them on the ice for 25-30 mins on ES than 20 minutes separately on bad pairings.
