If I’m starting from scratch, Babcock is definitely not the guy I’m hiring.

For my team in particular if I had only two options of hiring Babcock or keeping my team’s coach, I would take Babcock.

For a limited period of time until they turn on him. In that span the team may win a cup but once its downhill the situation isn't salvageable. There's a few coaches like that. Good at their craft not liked by the guys playing for them . It isn't an really an issue as long as the team wins but as soon as it doesn't its over. He needs to go. Very similar to Hitchcock in that regard.
