Would the players and owners do this?

Just something i've been kicking around in my pea brain :)
  • Each team MUST spend 28 million on salaries
  • Free luxury threshold 28-40 million
  • 40-50 million payroll teams pay 50 cents per dollar luxury tax
  • 50-60 million pays dollar for dollar luxury tax
  • 60 million to HARD CAP (i'll explain below) pays 1.5 dollar luxury tax
  • HARD CAP would be double of the average team salarie from the previous year

Thoughts?

The NHLPA would have to propose this and Bob Goodenow isn't doing anything but playing chicken with the owners. Furthermore, the NHLPA are afraid of him and won't push him to get the ball rolling.

He's a bully. Period. There will be no dissenters in this week's meeting of NHLPA union heads. These guys have been brain-washed through intimidation tactics. If anyone does crack, Goodenow or one of his lieutenants will get them back in line.

Goodbye 2004-2005 season. Guys will have a long hard winter to think about what they've done to the game.
