The 01/02 Canes and this year's Canes, seriously, what's up with that Southeast division??

The 00/01 Ottawa Sens were pretty awful, they won the Northeast with 48 wins but got swept by the Leafs in the 1st Round.

And yeah I know the Wings got swept by the Ducks in the same 2-7 position but the Ducks lost the Cup Final in seven games, the Leafs lost to the Devil's in the next round in seven games.

Last season's Thrashers were pretty god awful.

I look this from a mediocre win/loss record.

Those Sens are not the only team that looked strong and won their division before an early playoff exit, nor will they be the last.

Oh no my friend, there's a difference, for example, have you noticed how the past several seasons the team that beats the Wings gets to the Cup Final? Ducks, Flames, Oilers, in the early going.

The 97/98 Devils was it? Losing to the Senators who in turn lost in the next round is also embarassing.

For the Senators to get SWEPT by the 7th seeded Leafs who would lose in the following round, that's beyond bad.

The Senators this year aren't seated as high but will also probably get swept in the first round.

What about the 1992-93 Blackhawks and Bruins?

They both also got swept in round one.

Yep, Boston was #1 in their division, #2 in Conference and got swept by a team that got swept in the following round.

Blackhawks were #1 seed in West and got swept by the worst seeded team in the West, that team, the Blues would lose in seven to the Leafs the following round.

So both are examples of horrible performances.

The 02/03 Wings ( which I'm sure the poster above was thinking ) were swept by the eventual West Champion Ducks who lost in seven in the Cup Final.

Big difference.
