What is the worst stat to use in any category when evaluating a player?

Corsi?
Fenwick?
+/- ?

Any stat that by formula,
cannot be used to relate to unit performance.

1st comp Even Forward/D
2nd comp even Forward/D
3rd comp even Forward/D
4th comp even Forward

1st PK unit Forward/D
2nd PK unit Forward/D

1st PP unit Forward/D
2nd PP unit Forward/D

My favorite useless stat.

Defence PP points.

PK subban's 21 PP points in 14-15 from 82 gm's of 3.52 TOI and 3.75 PPP/60.

resulted in the PP play unit being
(82gm X 3.52min)/60 = 288.64/60 = 4.811 60 minute blocks.

the team PP is 6.24 GF/60 with Subban on the ice.
that is .28 GF/60 better than league median.

Those 21 PP points get you .28 X 4.811 = 1.35G better than average for the whole season.

I tend to ignore Defence PP points as a measure of a dman's offensive ability.

Some PP run 2D, 1D or zero D.

The PPQB is a role not a defined Dman position.

+/- is stated as not being realtively helpful.

it is a great unit tool.

1.Goalie- D-Center diamond
and
2. Wingers.

with forwards roving into either center or wing role per zone procession.

You look at a players +/-.
Look at the goals yielded for the season while on the ice.
Identify all the plus and Minus that a player was part of the system failure.

The original differential can be very accurate.
It is an initial screening for player analysis.

Give aways are useless without knowing the zone penetration attempts by a player.

The faster offensive players often drive the zone entry.
Straight give aways does not account for that!

Takeaway/60 is a good measure!
