RIP.All 3 of Alexei Yegorov's career NHL goals came in one game in 1996 - probably had the worst career of any player to score a hat trick.
Darren McCarthy scored a hat trick on PATRICK ROY, in the playoffs no-less.
Jim McKenzie is probably one of the most obscure ones. He had long career and mostly known for fighting, in his best season had five goals.
Eric Boulton had a hat trick this year.
The fact that Dana Murzyn ever scored a hat trick is going to keep me slightly amused all week.
Thanks pnep.
Mother****ing Lyle "Cornelius" Odelein has a hatty? Well, there's the topic's winner.
Jiri Dopita was for sure not one of the worst player ever to score a hat-trick. He was a beast in Europe for almost one decade, he won W.Champs 3 times and is has gold from Nagano...Jiri Dopita scored 4 of his 12 NHL goals in 1 game for the Flyers.
I was gonna say Kevyn Adams, but god, it's not even close. Many worse players have done it.
A few seasons back, didn't Adams at one point have 6 goals and both were from hat tricks?
Mick Vukota.
17 goals in 546 career games, career high of 4 goals in a season. Had a hat-trick in 1990.
I was thinking the same thing... when looking at the chart above, I'm willing to bet (without seeing them) that Tony Horacek and Marshall Johnston were "worse" players than Vukota.
Least likely players to get a hat-trick

Vukota Nets Hat Trick For Islanders
Darren McCarthy scored a hat trick on PATRICK ROY, in the playoffs no-less.
No doubt, but Simon deserves credit, too. He is not the only enforcer to play with a good playmaker, but he is the only one to turn it into a semi-elite season.
Simon finished his career with 144 goals, 161 assists for 305 points in 782 games. If you consider all the times he was injured or suspended, Chris Simon quietly averaged 15 goals a season in his career. Along with his obvious skills at enforcing and agitating, and this is a guy you wanted on your team during his prime.
I am not sure about "worst" but Tony Horacek scored one.
