...Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. The overriding rationale of this rule is that a goalkeeper should have the ability to move freely within his goal crease without being hindered by the actions of an attacking player. If an attacking player enters the goal crease and, by his actions, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed...

What a hilariously weird sequence. I was nearly certain that was a good goal for Edmonton and ready to turn off the TV when I realized everyone was standing around in a bit of confusion. Rittich gets the 10 minute misconduct after that goal for who knows what.

CMD definitely had many kind words to say to the refs tonight. Kassian too.

He doesn't get nearly as many this season, as he is now a "star" who has won the scoring title. Unfortunately that's the way it works in the NHL and there are players who get get even worse treatment.

he went from drawing .6 penalties per game to .4 penalties per game in a season where they're supposedly cracking down on stickwork. that's a difference of like 20 penalties over the season I believe. Refs are definitely screwing him over
