The Forsberg move on the first shot was nice.

The Czech kids played well, good bounce back game for them. They battled hard.
I haven't seen that move by a Czech since, then unknown, Dominik Simon pulled it on Canada at U20's... probably the last time Czechs beat (or came close to) Canada at WJHC.

Good game by the Czechs.

Hope for a good game for Canada White against the US.

There are six Canada/US duals on the US team.

Canada Black outshoots the Czechs 38-26 (6:3 penalties in favour of the Czechs) and barely squeak it out.

Canada Red outshoots the Swedes 52-34 (9:6 penalties in favour of the Swedes) and lose 4-2.

Canada White currently outshooting the Americans with equivalent penalties and are losing 5-3.

Maybe some more target practice is in order? :sarcasm:

Here is the Rysavy’s goal you have mentioned:

And here’s shootout goal from Altrichter:

2 awesome goals and we still lose in the shootout.lol

Seriously though, Czechs played very well as underdogs and kept it entertaining. It was a fun game to watch. I even appreciate they have a quick replay now!

Like have said already few times in the American Prospects thread; Chaz Lucius is the real deal.
Best player in this tournament so far?.
You said you haven’t even watched him play. He’s certainly not standing out above other players even on his own team.

Either way, making assessments from these tournaments on anything more than individual skill is very problematic. The US team has played together for months and works with familiar lines and systems, whereas the Canadian teams are thrown together. Players will almost certainly be on lines with guys they’ve just met, and the coaching staff simply does not have the time to actually implement team systems.

Sweden
Really bland offensive work by Sweden except for Lysell, Dower Nilsson, & Persson. Imagine putting them together on a line? Will never happen.

Also Captain Planet is good.

What an absolute beauty by Fabian Lysell, he is ridiculously skillfull. He should go very high in 2021.

Good sign for this age group for Canada if 1/3 of our team loses by one goal (plus an EN) while dramatically outshooting the Americans, and then another 1/3 beats them in a very even match.

Have to consider how Team USA has an immense chemistry and systems advantage by virtue of having playing together for a vastly greater amount of time, too.

It is beyond impressive how many times Canadian teams can score in final minute and come from behind to win.

Twice! But they disallowed the 2nd goal... really not sure why? Looked like a sweet goal. Czechs to the powerplay ... somehow.
