This is an intriguing age group for Canadians. Many off to good starts in the CHL.

Also worth noting that a lot of these guys played with/against each other in the Canada Winter Games last year.

What I don't understand is Quebec cruising trough that tournament, even beating Ontario 7-3, but yet they only selected 11 of the 18 forwards-defensemen from that gold medal team for the U17.

Which players are missing then? It's quite normal for players born early in the year to be a bit ahead at this age.
I'm not saying there are missing players. I'm saying that the development system in Sweden misses out on all these talents born in the second half of the year because talent is confused with size and maturity. Players quit altogether or continues with other sports instead (floorball, soccer) where size isn't as important at such a young age...

This team looks really good. I would have liked to see Roni Jauhiainen in defence and somebody els other than Otto Mykrä is Eero Niemi not eligible? or Verneri Ahonen or Eetu Liukas instead

Niemi and Liukas are both too old with late 02 birthdays.

Only one right shot on defense. Seems like they had some options with Ervasti, Jauhiainen and Kautto but picked 7 LHD's instead.

Really interesting to see Lambert, Miettinen, Tuomaala and Salminen at this level, should be really fun team to watch.

I know this tournament is organized by Hockey Canada, but i think Canada should only have one team like the rest.

Any news on the Russian squad? I mean, they played a friendly match against Metallurg, but i can't find any information about the Roster…

Edit

EP lists a Roster with no Miroshnichenko on it... quite a disappointment

Canada Black won Finland 2-1 yesterday in an exhibition game. Wright, Tschigerl from Canada and Marjala from Finland were the goal scorers.

Canada Black - Finland 2-1
Sweden - Czech Republic 6-1
Canada White - Russia 2-4
Canada Red - USA 6-7
One of these scores is not like the others. I get the feeling the Czechs are in for a very rough tourney.

I wouldn't say that. Sweden has a good, and deep, group. During the U16 4-nations tournaments last season Sweden only dropped two games: one in OT, and the other the goalie shit the bed(well, the goalie also shit the bed in the OTL).

I'm positive the swedish team is excellent. I just noticed all the games were close... Except ours. Guess we will see soon but I don't have much faith in this Czech team ... Hope I'm wrong.
