I'm not quite sure, but this question may have been asked before, but here it is.
I was wondering how come certain players who were doing phenomenal during their junior play did not even make it to the World Junior Camp. Examples of this

    Rick Nash
    Stephen Weiss
    Matt Foy
    Corey Locke
    and
    Eric Staal

    thanks for any responses

Canada often prefers to bring a more experienced team, and so 17 year olds in their draft years simply don't get much consideration.

Stephen Weiss were on the team 2 years ago.

  4. Corey Locke wasn't invited to the December selection camp because he can't skate, and his "nose for the net" isn't exactly what it was last season.
