Lets Remember the rules of this tournament when posting our teams.

Three (3) players on each team must be 21 years old or younger.

For Canada, that means Nash, Spezza, and Bouwmeester will surely be on the team.

I think they decided to not apply that rule.

That rule has been jetisoned.

those would be my choices
What has Joe Thornton done to require automatic selection?Crosscheck people in the face multiple times. Not produce in the clutch. No thanks to a very immature Joe Thornton.

Bob Nicholson from the CHA said during the second intermission on Finnish tv that about 5 players from the WC team will be on the World Cup team. Any guesses which 5 it will be?

Really? I guess if that's the case it's gonna be Heatley, Luongo, Niedermayer, Smyth, & Murray or Briere.

I like our depth at defense. I think that it is our biggest strength.

And that makes the final loss even worse since it was totally lost on the Blueline.

Lidström -4 !!!!!!!!!

I am personally even doubtful Lidström fits the top6 Dmen for World Cup. I frankly expect a better game from a 3 time norris winner best dman in the world etc etc when a gold medal is at stake.

I wouldnt be surprised if he is actually skipped this time come world cup.

I don't think Rick Nash will be on the team, I like the kid but he is not ready. Too bad he was hurt and could not play in the World Championship, because he could have played his way on to the team there but now I don't think he has a chance. Scoring 40 goals doesn't put him on the team, if you watched at all how they selected the Olympic team they looked at the player, not the stats. They also wanted players they didn't have to worry about defensively.

He will have his time soon enough, really hurt him right now that they he hasn't played at the world championship (not his fault) so that he could be evaluated in international hockey and on a team other than Columbus, like Heatley has been able to do the last 2 years. Considering Columbus is doubtful to make the playoffs for a few years atleast he will have his chance, and after putting up more than 1 good year in the NHL, will be on the next team.

As far as I know though they take 26 players and dress 20? So they might take him just to be around the team and learn, but I doubt he dresses.

Lemieux-Thornton-Bertuzzi
Heatley-Lecav-St. Louis
Smyth-Sakic-Iginla
Draper-Primeau-Peca

on the bubble: Murray, Cooke, Doan, Tanguay, Marleau, Nash, Gagne, Kariya, Spezza, Richards,.... No matter who gets picked, some great players will be left at home. Those are my starters anyways if I was in charge.

Pronger-Niedermayer
Redden-Jovanovski
Blake-Foote

extras:Aucoin, Bouwmeester, Brewer

Brodeur
Luongo
Theodore

FORWARDS
Fedorov
Yashin
Zhamnov
Datsyuk
Kovalev
Kovalchuk
Samsonov
Ovechkin
V. Bure
Morozov
Frolov
Kvasha

Questionable : Mogilny, P. Bure, Viktor Kozlov, Slava Kozlov

Kasparaitis
Kalinin
A. Markov
Malakhov
Ulanov

Questionable : Zubov, Zhitnik, Yushkevitch, B. Mironov

There's no way Andrei Markov is lower than Kaspar and Kalinin on the chart. And absolutly no way Tverdovski is first...Volchnekov should also be a candidate, along with other youngsters.

I'd also like to see some «Pain in the ass» players like Brylin, Nikolishin, Korolyuk, Saprikin.. on that team)
