What do you think if it will happen will Russia justify their miserable (highest) Olympic level failures in 2010 and 2014 ?

The IIHF championships is just a joke so dont mention it here.

What should Russia take out and what should they bring to win the tournament ?

For me take away their "superstars" Ovechkin, Radulov, Semin, Kovalchoke, Tyutin at first place and replacing those with Tarasenko, Kucherov, Zadorov and other "rookies"

Less of a joke than this proposed invitational, unsanctioned exhibition tournament with all-star teams and unlikely participation of the European leagues.

:) You call World Cup of Hockey which is even rarer than Olympics invitational, unsanctioned exhibition tournament ?

Ok...

So FIFA World Cup is what then ?
Some minor tournament or ?

Well it is invitational and unsanctioned (organized by the NHL) and it's an exhibition tournament (all-star teams and all that crap) designed to be a money grab for the league and replacement for the NHL's Olympic participation.

What does the FIFA World Cup have to with this? It's organized by the international governing body of soccer and it's neither invitational or unsanctioned. Not to mention the all-star teams.

The article in the OP is over a year ago, there's far more recent news on this on the threads at the Business of Hockey and International Tournaments boards. Discussion on Russia's roster isn't really something that belongs on the KHL board.

Can you give the source of those far more recent news ?

What an old, out-dated article. The World Cup of Hockey is expected to be in 2016. The NHL and IIHF have been in talks about this tournament. Fasel flew to NA to have talks with Bettman in November.

Here's one of the most recent articles I can find:

The eight-team event is now expected to include two all-star entries along with the top six hockey nations — Canada, U.S., Sweden, Finland, Russia and Czech Republic — when it returns in September 2016, according to multiple sources.

The first all-star team is expected to feature the best players from the remaining European countries: Slovakia, Switzerland, Latvia, Germany and Slovenia, among them.

The makeup of the other mixed squad is still to be determined, although one idea being considered is bringing together all of the top young stars in the sport.

No, you'll just have to search from the locations I mentioned.

So helpful thank you very much.
