Guess people at the USSF should keep their nephew's well protected.
dat ***** crazy
That is just ridiculous. I can't STAND her, but.......I guess it was the easy way to get rid of her.
Yeah I can't stand her either but thar seems a bit harsh
They obviously wanted to move on.
So, wait, which is it? Is she suspended, or released?
She's up there in age so I'm guessing the USWNT wanted to move on from the ever-toxic Solo and get younger.
Her latest "bad decision" in Rio was likely just the out they needed to pull the trigger.
The 6 mo. suspension means she can't be called up to the national team for any games during that period.
The contract termination means that she won't get any of the bonuses, game reveune, etc. that comes when the USWNT plays matches. Hence why you saw so many "Victory Tours" and "SheBeleives" type of tournaments.
It could also affect her club career since top players from the USWNT have their salaries paid for by the USSF. The CSA and FMF also have similar deals in place.
The PA has put out a notice that they will fight this in the courts as they feel her 1st Amendment rights are violated and that this is another form of gender discrimination.
That is just adorable!
Also, I heard she'd still be able to play with her women's league team, in Seattle I believe.
If this is the end of her career with the national team, I think it's really for the best. They don't need a headache (or headcase) like Hope around any longer.
Should have gotten rid of her ages ago
But she'll have to play for peanuts like all the non WNTers.
She's lucky that this didn't happen to her a while ago, she probably should have had a suspension like this for the assault back in 2014.
I feel like most people were thinking that as well.....before the USWNT swept it all under the rug, said "aw, shucks, it was an accident", and allowed Hope to play and win a World Cup with them, the very next year.

Let's put things this way - we're 3 years away from the next major women's international tournament. This should have happened long ago, but the USSF was so desperate to win a Women's World Cup again that they just sorta ignored things as much as they could at the time. It's not surprising to see them coming down so harshly on a 35 year-old who will be on the verge of turning 38 the next time there's a major tournament.
This is a cumulative punishment that effectively pushes her out the door. It had to happen, but they waited until she had effectively used up her usefulness to the program to do so.
They could have and should have cut her much earlier. It's not like the US is a weak team that faces 10+ shots a game and they need a great goalie. She faced only 2 or 3 shots a game and maybe like one of those would be a quality shot. A competent goalie could have done what she did the majority of the time.
Lloyd was a no show for the Houston Dash over the weekend.
FIFA Rankings after the Olympics

5) England (down 1)
In addition, Sylvia Neid has stepped down as Germany manager and has been replaced by assistant Steffi Jones (WWC Winner in '03, Olympic Bronze in '00 & '04)
She was a great player who did a lot for her country and then when they didn't need her any more they threw her away like garbage. Bunch of cowards. Irony intended.
Her nephew disagrees.
Let he who is w/o sin throw the first stone.
Well to be fair, she is human garbage.
I know she's not likeable, but is that all about her coward comments? Or just the last straw? Because that seems harsh.
Last straw probably. She's just kinda crazy and causes a lot of drama, but the fact that she was so damn good meant they did what they could to keep her around. Now that she's getting older and would've ended up retiring soonish they figured this was the best time to get rid of her. And I can't blame them, she's trouble.
