here's what we could be looking at,

Team Canada - Susuki, Brook (Invited to prelim camp)
Team Finland - Ylonen (Invited to prelim camp)
Team USA - Poehling, Primeau (prelim camp roster should be announced this week)
Team Sweden - Olofsson
Team Russia - Romanov

Ikonen still injured so unless he's back soon he won't be there. Will the Habs loan Kotka?
Thanks for the list!!

I really wanna see Ikonen at the WJC. Hes always been great vs players his own age. And that would be a great confidence booster heading back to his Liiga team. He just needs to be healthy.
As for Kotka, we should loan him. The team is struggling and so is he. Let him dominate his own age group, what bad can that do?
Also, if he does go, how many NHL games would he miss?

Could see Kotka being sent back like Mete last season if the losing continues.

What about Olofsson and Romanov? Not sure if they are locks but I think the probability is they make it at this stage right?

Kotkaniemi: A lock if he is allowed to go
Suzuki and Brook: Should make it if they don't screw up in warm up games?
Poehling and Primeau: Locks to make that US team. I agree. Is Primeau the projected starter? Who is his competition?
Romanov and Olofsson: I believe they probability make it.
Ikonen: No idea. He made the team last year but has been hurt. He is scheduled to return to the ice sometime late December to mid January. Not sure he makes that tournament now.

6 players and Kotkaniemi makes 7. Are we missing anybody?

Ylonen should make it too.

Interesting that Button doesn't have Brook as a lock for the team

RHD competition is tight with Bouchard and Dobson both being RHD and more high profile players. But I wouldn't be surprised if they end up playing one of the RHDs on the left side.

1. Button is an idiot.. he ran an article saying how there's no natural C's named to the roster.. I counted at least 5. Hayton was drafted top 5 SPECIFICALLY because he's a C. Then you have Cody Glass. Dude doesn't have his finger on the pulse at all, it's embarrassing.

2. I wouldn't loan Kotkaniemi to the WJC.. I'd rather see him in the AHL if they're entertaining that thought. Most times the guys who come back from the NHL struggle when they go to the WJC because the pace is slower, the game isn't as structured, it's not going to do a whole lot for them. It was different for Mete since he simply wasn't playing at all and he didn't have the option to going back to the AHL.

3. I think you should have invited Dach and Cozens. These guys may be young draft eligibles, but they deserve a shot.

The Junior tournament is great to watch and even better when there are Habs prospects. For the longest time is has been lean for Habs picks in this tourney.

Well, if you check another video clip on TSN where Button gives his analysis of the goaltending and defense, he named Brook as one of the top dmen for Canada and that group also included Bouchard, Smyth and Dobson. These four are expected to carry the load for Canada.

Interesting that both Lavoie & Lafreniere were invited to the selection camp, but Dach and Cozens were not.

MacKenzie seems to think Suzuki is a lock up front. :yo:

Looking forward to it again this year.
