All I know is Montoya has shown up so far in this tournament. He's been very solid. Add to that great special teams play and a solid defense, and the U.S.'s chances for a medal, even a gold look very good.

While his overall play has obviously been very good, I think his ability to play the puck (the Steen goal yesterday nonwithstanding) has been a really asset. I've watched a few of the other teams, and their goaltenders are HORRIBLE at playing the puck. That makes a differance IMO.

Something is not clicking. Ishmatov problem is that he tries to spread the offense between 4 lines like in old Soviet school. Well, it does not give results so it needs to be changed. If Malkin is not on the same line with Ovechkin I would think Ishmatov is doing a very wrong thing. It sounds (according to what US comentator says) that Ovechkin tries to carry the puck into the zone, it is wrong. He can be a good passer but he is not a playmaker, he won't do it one on one.

Last year I really did not know for sure whether it was Ishmatov's coaching strategies or just very good players which allowed the team to win. It seems Ishmatov will get exposed this year with his inferior tactics and inability to make a TEAM out of group of players.
