I was just thinking why Hans Zach played Oliver Jonas in Cologne during the last two weeks...now I know why...

Germany won a tight game 1-0 vs France.
Ziffzer had 27 saves as Germany killed many penalties including a 5-on-3 in the 3rd.

French Mickael Gasnier finished with 26 saves.
The goal was scored by David Cespiva assisted by Muller and Schietzold, just as a German 5-on-3 PP expired.

Germany beat Denmark 6-1, making them 4-0 with only 2 goals conceeded to 18 goals scored

Gawlik with 3 goal against making 5 goals in 4 games.

Greiss's stellar play continues with 28 saves, after his shutout against Ukraine yesterday.

Now lets just finish the job against Slovenia and get promoted.

Unfortunatly, again a big game for France but no win.
France took just 4 goals in 4 games. But only scored 5... good tournament but I would have dream of a better result...

I don't know, why Thomas Greiss(drafted by San José) plays so amazing these months...

If you take a look at the DEL-stats, Thomas Greiss is the best goalie of the whole league, and that with 19:

1.Thomas Greiss: 94,83%
2.Tomas Pöpperle: 93,44%
3.Jimmy Waite: 92,52%
.
.
.
10.Frederic Chabot(Ex-NHLer): 91,63%
.
.
14.Trevor Kidd(Ex-NHLer): 90,75%

will he be the next Kölzig??

Bye and greetings from Berlin

Again a good game for France. Pingrid took 2 goals in the first 10 minutes, than Gasnier another one. But he was solid the rest of the game as France rallied from that 3 goals deficit.
France dominated with 30 shoots... Gasnier finished the tournament with a 0.72 GAA and a .96 save percentage in 230 minutes played (73 saves on 76 shots).

It's really incredible, I mean, a 0.78 GAA and a 96.05 save percentage is inhuman, but it's still not enough to be the best in the tournament, as Thomas Greiss has a 0.5 GAA and 97.75 save percentage.
Add Youri Ziffzers's shutout and Germany only let in two goals on 116 shots, for a save percentage somewhere above 98%.

It's a pity that this team didn't have the chance to compete against the best of the world. They still would have lost most of the games against the really big nations, but it's one of the best German teams in years and if one of them had a chance to surprise, it's this team.

It really is a shame. They got the job done and that in impressive fashion and leading all statistics. Goals for 20 together with danmark, Goals against with 2, Player with most points (Gogulla and Mueller with 7), Most Goals (Gawlik with 6), save percentage shutouts.
At least Gawlik Gogulla and Schuetz can play next year so we are getting a main part of our offensiv production back.

I mean for Greiss I think I have to say no more. This kid is purely amazing, shame he can not prove himself against the topnations this year. I just hope he gets taken to Turin, which he deserves..

I think Germany had some pretty good prospects.
Still, What France managed to do this week seems to be more impressive because of the level of play of the 2 nations... Unfortunatly France wasn't sstrong at scoring but only lost 1-0 to Germany, dominating them most of the game. France was the biggest threat for Germany this week.

As I posted on another thread - its all credit to Thomas Greiss between the pipes - hes an outstanding goali prospect and will for sure play some day in overseas. Great talent this kid!! Best young goaltender Ive ever seen at this age in the DEL. Best player in this team also at the WJC 1 .. this team deserves to be again at the elite level. Some good young guns also up fron with Berlin's Gawlik and Danner from Frankfurt.

Best roster germany had for a couple of years I guess .. way to go Team Germany!
Ahhh felt good say after havnt said it for a while :)
