Offensively that team looks stronger than this years team, even though it lacks a godlike 1C like Teräväinen. Defensively looks much weaker, even though Saros is one year older and even more godlike ;)

I'm interested in your thoughts on Mika Ilvonen making the team. He's a recruit for my favorite college team.

He should make it as our d isn't very good next year. He is a bit small but played well in u18's last year.

Ilvonen is a very good player apart from the fact that he's maybe 5'6'' tall. I wouldn't want to see him at the WJC's, or at least I hope we have better alternatives available.

I doubt that very much. Him and Patrik Laine dont have much of a hope to make the team.

They would have to make Kärpät's and Tappara's SM-Liiga first so it's pretty unlikely. Not impossible though. These young guys can develop a lot during a year.

To be honest, I'm more excited about 2015 U18 World Championships:

Patrik Laine - Aleksi Saarela - X
Sebastian Aho - Julius Nättinen - Jesse Puljujärvi

:yo:

Good amount of skill here, should at least be entertaining if nothing else.

Do you really see Palmu being first line player at u18's? Other player with similar size(Järveläinen) didn't really show anything special there despite he was dominating in A-Juniors.

Palmu-Nättinen-Laine has been the 1st line for U17 national team in their last two events, I simply went with that. Things can naturally change between now and April 2015.

-97 group certainly seems promising. In U20 league their stats are like this:

S. Aho (35. 19+27=46) - A. Saarela (13. 5+12=17) - J. Puljujärvi (10. 8+7=15)
P. Palmu (4. 0+1=1) - J. Nättinen (24. 4+19=23) - P. Laine (32. 20+7=27)
J. Tammela (19. 3+10=13) - A. Ruotsalainen (30. 9+12=21) - S. Tavernier (32. 7+8=15)
T. Piipponen (11. 2+5=7) - J. Niemelä (25. 10+14=24) - K. Björkqvist (13. 2+3=5)

J. Huuhka (2. 0+0=0) - V. Vainio (28. 8+12=20 :amazed:)
O. Juolevi (4. 0+2=2) - V. Saarijärvi (31. 4+14=18)
Je. Mattila (23. 0+6=6) - J. Välimäki (no games played in U20. In U18 33. 5+22=27)

V. Vehviläinen (22. 91,46%)
N. Viksten (5. 93,13%)

Looks very good

I won't be surprised if Aapeli Räsänen will play at the U18's in 2015. Last week he played such an impressive game with Tappara's U18 team. Three points and absolutely dominated in all three zones. Räsänen played in all situations for his team. Strong as an ox, good skater with great playmaking skills, and can also shoot the puck. Although he's big, he's got plenty of skill and two-way ability. Räsänen should play with U20 team (A-juniors) next season.

J. Huuhka (2. 0+0=0) - V. Vainio (28. 8+12=20 :amazed:)
O. Juolevi (4. 0+2=2) - V. Saarijärvi (31. 4+14=18)
Je. Mattila (23. 0+6=6) - J. Välimäki (no games played in U20. In U18 33. 5+22=27)

This thread is going off topic pretty badly, but Jarkko Parikka and Ville Järvinen need to be mentioned as well. Waltteri Ruuskanen has had a difficult season, but nonetheless he's been the captain of U17 national team team so I guess he's a candidate as well.

I'd say that Aleksi Saarela, Julius Nättinen, Arttu Ruotsalainen, Joonas Niemelä, Kasper Björkqvist and Erik Embrich are the early favorites to play centre forward for that team. Räsänen's teammate Otto Mäkinen could be the only 98-born centre forward with a chance of breaking into this squad.

Personally I see Räsänen a bit differently than you. I agree that he's a good two-way player, but I don't think his skill level or offensive ability is high-end. More of a workhorse player down the line I think.

Joonas Lyytinen is definitely going to be top 4 d-men. He is smart, good skater and shot is accurate. Also bigger than eliteprospects shows 180cm 65kg. I would say 184cm 74kg.

A good candidate for sure, but his decision making still leaves something to be desired, needs to be more thorough. Getting stronger is another obvious objective for him.

Puhakka has surprised me (statistically of course, haven't seen any games) positively. Thought he would struggle in CHL like Markkula but he has played very well. Hopefully Kivi will take a good look at him next season if he continues to play in Chicoutimi.

Some names that imo have slim chance that Tormetor didn't already name:
Miikka Pitkänen (fast and skilled but small. Similar player like Mustonen)
Jarkko Parikka (USHL)
Jimi Kuronen(USHL)
Kasperi Ojantakanen ( gonna play ncaa hockey next season)
Julius Nättinen (Akatemia?)
Jesse Puljujärvi.

Marjamäki told Jesse is gonna have chance to Kärpät next season. And i think there is gonna be some holes on Kärpät roster cause some off the guys wanna bigger role.

Also imo Mäkelä and Levo are gonna be pair. Lammikko is on mine 4th line.

Is this new for you to put Patrik Laine on this roster?

What are your reasons why him?
