Looking for a wrecking ball? Pitre hits everything, fights for body positioning with every limb, and never gives up on a play. How about a finisher? He’s always in the right place at the right time, able to capitalize with a wrister that blends the pass reception, toe drag around the defender, and release in one smooth motion. What about a down low playmaker? That’s Pitre, who uses those physical skills to possession before sliding a backhand pass to the slot. -EliteProspects 2023 NHL

From Eliteprospects. Seems like a great pickup with upside.

Edit: Leonardo beat me to it

So seems like verbeek want to be a defense/forechecking team. Lot of 2way energy guys
There seems to be a trend. High speed, good defense, big players that can shoot. We have 4 of the top 6 filled in. Z and Terry are playmakers that can score, Carlsson is a pass first player (TBD if he can score), and McTavish is a scorer with underrated playmaking. Adding guys that can shoot, play defense to cover for the weaker defensive guys, and provide physicality and speed might be the right compliment for those players.

I agree, we need shooters/forechecker and responsible players(prob in the more high end variety) but we’ll see how these guys pan out

I wonder what they see in this guy. Maybe it is his physicality, with a bow to Dirk. At least they picked him at about the right place according to the rankings.

Damnit... I would have rather we swung on Pekarcik who bigger, faster, and younger. Slovak's have been pumping out some good talent recently. The profile say Pitre is physical but he looks more chippy/pest than physical like a Kalan Lind.

On Coulson Pitre (3rd Round, 65th Overall) and Yegor Sidorov (3rd Round, 85th Overall)

We had a focus on forwards, speed and goal scoring. The three forwards that we took (on day two) are able to do that. They play with intensity, they play with speed and they play with paced. They shoot the puck and go to the net. Those two guys especially do that well.
