wins by a rookie goalie

last night lundqvist won his 20th game of the year and msg mentioned that it was the first rangers rookie to win 20 games since richter's rookie year...

so my question is does anyone know what the nhl record is for wins by a rookie goaltender?? what about the top 10??

Probably Belfour with 43 wins in 1990-91. He played 23 games the season before, so still qualified as a rookie in '90-'91. Given that 47 is the NHL record, 43 is likely the rookie record, or at least top 3.

wow thats much higher than i thought...given that 47 is the record and roy won like 23 in his rookie year taking home the calder i was expecting more like 30-35.

terry sawchuk won 44 in his rookie year 50-51 (he actually won 44 in both of his first 2 years)...so those are 1st and 2nd alltime for rookies.
