Our only real d prospect after Morrissey and he's 19th. Shows how much his stock has fallen since he left the Q.

Maybe (likely) he's our best pro D prospect after Morrissey. If you include junior guys, I'd definitely put Stanley in front of him. Unsure of Niku (did he have a good year, why did he get as high as he did?), Green and Poolman though, I might put Kostalek ahead of them.

Oh yeah. Stanley is there, too. I like both Niku and Green before them as well, but that's a bit of newness shining through. Niku had very good possession numbers in his league, if I remember correctly.

Logan Stanley, Tucker Poolman, Sami Niku, and Luke Green are all arguably better defensive prospects than Kostalek. In fact, Jacob Cederholm may be a better blue-liner than Kostalek. Even Kichton may end up turning out to be a better D-man than Kostalek. I have no faith in Kostalek making the Jets top 6 defensive lineup.

Lipon.......

This looks to be a 2 horse race for last spot on the list....... Berdin is "Russian Voodoo ".. I like that Jets reached for what they perceived was a good value pick at that time in the draft. But I doubt anybody voting for Berdin has even seen him play. He is a long shot reach for the Jets with some upside.

I would have liked to have seen some more love for Appleton on this board. He had a good freshman season . The jets seem to like his upside as they played him on a line with Connor and Lemieux in the developenent camp scrimmage ........ He has good size / speed and plays centre.

I predict he has a good 2 nd year in college and he breaks our top 20 next year.

Edit..... I also think Kravkowsky should have had some more live in this poll. Top line on the Russian team at the WJC and playing some in the KHL at his age....... But he is Russian and may not try to come over.

I still cannot believe Kostaek finished ahead of guys like Lipon, Cederholm, Kraskovsky, Kichton, and Tanev.

I'm going to go on record, and predict that Kostalek never rises above the AHL level.

Thats not really a bold prediction. Realistically, outside of the to 3_4 players only one or two of these guys will likely pan out.

Signed a senior contract in a top 5 league in the world.

Also, he's Swedish, so that's a plus too. Y'all need to stop oppressing us.

I want a scoring Swede. Not one who has similar scouting notes, looks like, and scores even less than (his ECHL brother) Anton Cederholm.

I mean he could end up better. I'm just not going to consider him better until he adds some production to his game.

You could be right that he never rises above the AHL but none of those others you named are likely to either. Kichton? Really? Lipon's chances are not a lot better than Kichton's. If he makes the NHL it is probably with another organization.

You are being pretty hard on Kostalek based on his rookie pro season on a truly horrible team. That season was not bad enough to justify your position IMO. He did improve as the season went on. I expect a substantial step forward this year. If it does not come then your rating might be justified this time next year but Lipon and Kichton won't be in our top 20 next year either.

*grumble*

I like the fact that Cederholm has earned a senior contract. I hope his scoring will improve. I don't think the difference between him and Kostalek at the time of their drafts is that big.
