People often refer to the current Jets as 2.0. IMO this is wrong.

The Winnipeg Jets first started as a junior team in 1967-68 in the WCHL. The rivals were teams like the Estevan Bruins and Flin Flon Bombers. This team would be Winnipeg Jets 1.0.

When we got into the WHA in 1972-73 the team was also called the Winnipeg Jets. The junior team was called the "Junior Jets" for one season until they became the Winnipeg Clubs. Yes, in the 70s a junior team could be dressed as beer bottles.

The WHA team operated for as long as the WHA existed, i.e. 1972-73 to 1978-79. This team would be Winnipeg Jets 2.0.

The WHA merged with the NHL and the Jets' organization moved en masse to the new league, minus several players. They played in the NHL from 1979-80 until 1995-96 when they moved to Phoenix. This team would be Winnipeg Jets 2.1.

That makes the current Jets 3.0.

I don't think that there was any real continuity between the junior Jets and the WHA Jets, other than the name. As you note, the Junior Jets continued to exist.

Despite the effects of the ruinous expansion draft, the WHA team had several elements in common with the NHL team, so at most it would have been a shift from 1.0 to 1.1 at that point. Of course, in 1979 we would have been completely baffled by the expressions "1.0" and "1.1", etc., which had yet to be introduced into the language.

Am preferring the beta version of Jets 3.1 ... still has some kinks in it but runs smoother without Pavelec and still breaks down less than the version with Randy Jones I was running a couple years back.

Hollywood, where did you get that older pic of the Winnipeg arena? Do you have a link for it?

Alpha version, as it wasn't a pro team. V0.90a

Not the NHL - Beta version. V0.99b

First NHL version == V1.0

Core sold to someone else, and renamed Phoenix V1.0, which means:

That makes the current Jets 3.0.

Current version is Jets 2.0 - purchased and brought in house. V2.1 has revisions to the coaching core.
