He is gambling at the line and not winning enough. He hasn't been strong enough in battles. It is a long season. I think this is all fine, he is learning a lot about this league it is a process. Saying lets feed the kid 20 minutes a night to get abused with Green against first lines isn't something I am on board with right now. Let's have him get through a game where they aren't scoring with him on ice for a few of them.

What happend to our PK? Used to be decent. Can we get Miller back? Cuz ya know he was a Pk specialist.

All I know is he moves the puck better than anyone on the backend with the exception of Green. He's done a nice job in his own zone today taking the man and finishing his check. I don't see the timidnes unless that means you want him to run around out there in his own end.

Not going to lie, for me it's like an emotional rollercoaster when it comes to Mantha. I think he is who he is, and if he didn't look around him and see what it takes to succeed like Larkin, or Zetterberg before him, he most likely won't understand it ever. This is a working man's league. I watch the predators quite a bit, and when I see small Viktor Arvidsson (far many other examples like him) be hungry for the puck, protect it, win battles for it and give it his all to score, there really isn't any excuse for guys like Mantha. You're soon to be captain in Larkin is giving it his all every single shift, what makes Mantha so special? I don't believe it's a confidence issue because in my opinion that has more to do with skills. This is a heart and mind problem. Mantha will probably perceive it as a skills confidence issue, but it will be because he can't see the truth in his warts. Next year is the time to decide what to do with him, because having said all that you give youth with skill the opportunity to mature. I think his age 25 season next year is a good enough leash for any young player.

Wish we had a 30 goal scorer since like forever. Larkin should make that case this year I hope.

Well skating is really important in the NHL. It is also something the high end talents all generally have. But with the face of hockey being McDavid this is pretty natural in my opinion. It is also something the Hughes brothers have going for them if they become big time faces of their teams.

In short get used to hearing about it. I don't think it is going anywhere just like compete level is said a ton even still today.

I don't disagree, but skating has always been important in hockey. Crosby has fantastic edgework but that phrase wasn't used nearly as much when he came into the league as it is now.

I'm not saying it's not important. Just funny how these things become buzzwords.

what is Nyquist doing out there? He looks terrible, easily the worst player on the ice. He's made so many brutal turnovers, and lost so many battles. He is so weak.

There is a bigger argument to be had for him being our best player today than there is for him being the worst player on the entire ice surface.... Curious take on the proceedings today in my opinion.
