The Wings have seen a flip around in terms of prospects since the new GM took over. However a few nes stay the same

1st Gustav Nyqvist.

Has there been player who has broke out more than Nyqvist this year? After years of dominating the AHL, Nyqvist with injuries finally got legit playing time hes playing like the Star many expected after strong AHL campaigns. Looks like a legit top line threat but at worst hes going to turn out as a top 6 forward.

2nd Ryan Spooner

Spooner has been strong in the AHL hes got all the potential to be a top 6 forward shown flashes of his skill in stints with the Bruins. However hes subject of a very deep team may need to continue to ply his trade in the AHL till he really gets a chance to show his skill in the bigs.

3rd Markus Grandlund.

The less know of the Grandlund brothers hes probably the less talented of the two however hes shown some good skill in his first year in North America. His upside probably tops out as a top 6 forward was looking good at the NHL level untill injury took him out for awhille

4th Phillipe Grubauer

The first of a few goalies on this list. Has been great everywhere he played really showed flashes of being a potential starter when he was called up with Holtby out. However now with Halak there he may need to continue to buy his time in the minors. Potential starter at worse a back up.

5th Ben Hankowski

Hank has had a less than steller start to his career he seems to be having an issue adjusting to the pro game so far. However its just one year an his upside is still a solid top 6 forward. Hope is he can grow next year an really get his game going.

6th Brendon Lepisic

He really blew up on a strong portland team last two years. A late bloomer who could see his name higher on this list next year if he can transistion well into the pros. He will likely habe plenty of time to ply his trade in the AHL though of he transtions well the offense dry Preds may give him a shot eam. Hes very boom or bust could be anywhere from a top line to top 9 which is why hes lower on this list right now.

7th Joonas Korpisalo

The goalie who may never reach his real potential currently playing in what one assumes is a lower Finnish league(cant find stats anywhere). Korpisalo is a strong netminding prospect who played well in the WJC a few years back. However now stuck in a system where Bobrovsky is starter he could very well never realize his potential. However the tool set suggests he could be a starter of he is ever given the chance.

8th Reid Boucher

The Sniper has a deadly shot he could be a serious threat however he needs to work on his all around game to fit in with the Devils defensive system. Has the tools to be a top 6 sniper and the devils are in need of scoring an they need to work on getting younger. Has been a solid contributor in his first pro.career.

9th Michael Bournival

This is where the list gets even tougher to decide who falls where. Bournival is a small forward who plays a smart game he wont ever be an offensive dynamo however he never quits. An energy player who plays bigger than his size hes smart two way player. His upside is a bottom 6 forward with some offense but more defensive specialist.

10th Charles Oliver Rousell

Long way down the list is a once solid prospect. The puck moving defender has not adjusted well to the pro game however there is still hope that he can turn his game around defenders take more time.to develop at this point hes boom or bust top 4 upside. However he must impove his game soon or get lost in the shuffle.

11th Greg Pateryn

Pateryn is a shut down defender with decent skill set. Most likely will never see his upside as a top 4 defender however he could still be a solid bottom pairing shut down defender to compliment thr glutten of offensive defenders the Canadians have.

12th Jacob Joesfson

Another faller on this list injuies have plagued this defensive center. At worst he will be a bottom 6 forward if he can ever overcome his injuries. Still could break out however more of a safe bet as a defensive bottom line center.

13th Maxim Kitsyn

Skill an size to burn this kid could be alot higher if not for two things. The russian factor and his inconsistency. He has all the skill set to be a top 6 powerforward type. However his lack of interest in play alot of the time sees him in the ECHL. Biggest boom or bust in the entire list.

14th Tyler Cuma

Another injury plagued player Cuma looks like he wont be the top 4 two way defender he was projected in his draft year. If he could stay healthy hes still shown enough skill to carve out a nice career as a bottom 6 two way defender.

15th Landon Ferrero

The small energy forward is much like his father he provides grit and energy. Wont be anything more than a bottom 6 forward unless he develops a big offensive game out of nowhere. Played his first NHL game this year for the injury riddled Wings an didnt look out of place could replace some of the aging.depth forwards in Detriot over the next few years.

16th Reese Scarlett

The offensive defender needs to work on rounding out his game if he wants to be an NHLer however if he can he may find himself a role as a bottom pairing guy and PP specialist. If not he likely wont see the light of day in the NHL unless he becomes an offensive stud.

17th Paul Byron

Byron probably higher on a few peoples lists and is basically interchangeable with many of the guys above him. Another bottom 6 forward with enough skill to make himself useful in the NHL. Currently playing for the Calgary Flames an looked solid so far.

18th JP Anderson

Another guy who could move up an down the list a solid goalie with the right tools however i think he holds less upside than the 2 above him. At best a career back up however id be fine with him proving me wrong

19th Eric Wellwood

Was alot higher a few years back however a huge near death experiance may end his NHL career at only 23. Had carved out a role for himself before a serious injury he could have been a great energy forward. However may be a bust for the sake of his health only.

20th Patrick Holland

Most likely a 4th line player who can do abit of everything but does nothing amazingly. One of those guys who could just carve out a minor career playing a 4th line role for many teams.
