This team actually has a pretty decent group of forwards. If Holland hadn't bungled the defense so badly I think this could be a two-round playoff team. I don't think they will be challenging for the first overall pick this year, unfortunately. This season is the first season I've been excited to watch this team in about 5 years.

Don't think so.
It's still more about potential than anything, even up front.
Larkin is legit.vAA scored 30 goals.vMantha? I don't know. In terms of being a first line forward, it's still a lot more potential there than actual accomplishment.vBertuzzi. Is he really a top line forward? I like him, and think he compliments there. But no, not really a top line forward.
After that?
Flip and Nielsen? Decent veteran placeholders.
Hirose? Rasmussen? Svechnikov? Veleno? Zadina? A long way from proving anything.
Grinders are OK - in Abby, Glendening and Helm.

So overall, I'd look at it like this.
Top line:
Bert-Larkin-Mantha - is that average to above average? I'd say no. Though it has potential to do it.
2nd line:
AA-Flip-Hirose - is that average to above average? Definitely not.
3rd line:
Helm-Nielsen-Rasmussen - Average to above average? f*** no.
4th line:
Erne-Glendening-Abdelakder- Probably above average.

If Mantha and Bert grow into their roles... if at least two of the kids turn into legit top 6 and top 9 forwards, then maybe our forward group is good enough to be a bubble team.

Our forward group SHOULD be something if Hirose, Rasmussen, Svechnikov, Zadina and Veleno develop as planned. But that's probably 1-2 years away, or more.

Unfortunately, I agree. Looking at the good teams around the league and comparing them to the Wings, there's quite a disparity in top-end talent.

I maintain the same primary concern I've had about Zadina since he was drafted.

... The kid just doesn't look athletic at all. Like he comes into the gym and curls the 10 pound dumbbells for 5 minutes and claims he, "Worked out."

Ridiculous post imo

You can call it ridiculous all you want, but he fell in the draft due to piss poor combine performance, and his struggles since aren't due to a lack of talent, but a lack of strength and conditioning.

Put him in a gym with Cholowski and Glendo and maybe he'll start to pick it up.

Yep, still ridiculous.

There are plenty of reasons beyond work ethic and mindset that cause teenagers to mature at different rates.

Beyond that, you are basing your analysis solely on physical appearance? For a sport that has a completely unique subset of physical requirements?

Yeah. Just put Mike Barwis work with him especially.

If our problems with prospects are developmental, we can always just work things out.

My main complaint on him was average athleticism in his draft. But he has great hockey IQ and a huge work ethic hopefully he can get to a little better in those departments it is all he should need in my opinion because of all of his other tools. But raw athletic ability is why I disagreed with top five billing. I do think he has improved. Was encouraged how many times he was open in space in the four games in Traverse.
