Wings Prepare for Duel with the Blues

The Detroit Red Wings were home practicing hard in preparation for a tough home and home series with their perrenial adversaries in St. Louis.

This will be the second meeting between these teams this year with the first game being a bit of a let down as a strong performance by Niklas Backstrom made the game appear closer than it was. The Blues emerged with a 1-0 victory that opened with a bit of controversy as Brendan Witt was injured and Nicklas Lidstrom was ejected less than 5 minutes into the first period. Prior to practice Lidstrom stated that there was no bad blood between the veteran blueliners and that he did not expect any silly retaliations tonight.

This could be billed as a battle between the top offensive team in the Western Conference (technically) vs. the leagues stingiest defence but that would be stretching it a bit given the goals for vs. goals against differential for each team is clearly in the Blues favour.

All that aside nothing is a given when these two teams with their bitter history meet aside from the fact the arenas will be filled.
