All good points.....but from what I saw at practice this morning, we need forwards as well. I just cant believe that after all these years, we still have Larose in the top 6.

I doubt that Jordan Staal signed up for 10 years to play with Chad Larose.....jeez that just makes me sad.

Having LaRose in the top six surrounded by the Staals, Semin and Skinner is a much better situation than having two of Corvo/Harrison/McBain in the top 4 surrounded by Faulk and whichever of Pitkanen/Gleason we don't trade.

Not to mention we have a top six forward (Jokinen) playing on the third line.

Maybe we're trying to become the Houston Rockets of the NHL :)

Stephen Weiss may be available....that would be a better 3rd line Center answer, then move Jokinen back to Jordan Staal's line and Larose to 3rd line with Weiss and someone else.

Again, Pipe dream I know. Rutherford only trades for 11th-13th forwards

I'd still like Filppula. Our team is stacked with Finns and he's a perfect fit, imo anyway.

This is my first thought also. JR has cornered the market on 2nd and 3rd pairing guys.

Well, this is no different than usual. Only place he is going to get a legit top pairing Dman is on the FA market or RFA market. Because we cant afford to trade any Forward assets for one.

I'd say it's simpler than that. Barring special circumstances, it's rare for a team to trade a legit top-pairing defender. You either draft 'em, sign 'em in free agency, or sit around moping because you don't have 'em.

We're not in a position to give away defensemen, especially those who'd actually crack the Wings lineup. Unless Faulk's an All-Star this team won't last without Pitkanen or McBain.

Corvo, a 4th, and a 6th for Eaves.

We'll gladly trade Larose and McBain for whatever the wings wanna offer!

Absolutely.....I love Chad's effort and attitude, dont get me wrong. But at some point, trying real hard doesnt put the puck in the net. While it may keep some out of our net, we need to score some damn goals.

But he's just so damn cute the way he works so hard to skate slow. That head down and those tiny arms and legs just pumping away.

And yet, he'll end up scoring 20 goals somehow. Maybe 10 in this shortened season. My issue with Rosie is that he's been consistently overslotted in the lineup. That pretty much tells me that the Canes have had a serious shortage of top line wingers.

You forgot what JR does. Sign all available 3rd pairing guys and hope somebody steps up. He doesn't draft them because they take too long to develop (he's coming around a bit on this). He doesn't sign them because they cost too much money. He's left to moping or hoping a journeyman or an underachiever suddenly finds their super power.

LaRose + McBain for Flip would work great for us.

We have plenty of PMDs

Yes, now we just need some defensemen that keep the puck out of our net. The Canes defensive group is like my Mens league team....all the D play offensively, so at some point the D pairing run into each other behind the OTHER teams net.

Sounds like a pickup game of NHL 13... That's why I always play RD and my defenseman's 6'5" 235.

Allen did that pretty good for us I thought.
