Two insane things.

1. Of the 7 defensemen listed...Ericsson is the one still with the team...
2. The Franchise have traded Jarnkrok, Janmark, Pulkkinen, Jurco, Sheahan, Tatar, Sproul, Smith, Mrazek and god knows who I'm missing on the list. Point being, plenty of fairly high picked players in the draft who except for Tatar, never really given a proper chance in the type of role they originally were drafted for. The "They must earn it" bull...it annoys me. Put players in a position which gives them the best option to succeed, don't put players in checking roles which they won't manage.

Adding to that. They traded Jarnkrok and Janmark because they wanted to keep Sheahan. Then traded Sheahan.

And, didn't give Bedard a new contract as goalie coach because wanted to bring up goalie coach from Grand Rapids to groome Mrazek. Then traded Mrazek.

What?

Except for Tatar and Nyquist, who actually deseserved a spot playing? (Of the ‘older’ prospects)

Mantha doesn’t count.

Wanted to add, go look at every team from 5-7 years ago, and many and if not everyone, will be very very different. As well, as the fact that many teams, trade their, Jarnkrok, Pulk, Janmark, Jurco level players who didn't take the next step. Lets not act like the Wings are the only team out there, that had picks that didn't pan out and quit blaming the team for each and every player that didn't get better. Reality is, good players find a way to make it, regardless what line they are on, what role they are in. If they are good enough they will make it happen. Joe Thornton (and he was 1st Overall) played like 6 minutes a game as a rookie on the fourth line in Boston, because Pat Burns didn't trust him to be higher up, and he turned out pretty fine, didn't he? Imagine the complaints nowadays if Dahlin only plays 6 minutes a night, fans would go apeshit!
