Wings at the World Cup of Hockey

  1. GM Niece today issued a statement wishing all competitors 'Good Luck' in the reborn International event.

    The HFNHL Red Wings are fortunate enought to have 9 current players participating with seven of the eight teams and 3 former players who were with the team for at least part of the past 2003-04 season.
    The 9 current players participating are as follows:

    Canada - Kris Draper
    Czech Republic - Jiri Fischer and Marek Malik
    Finland - Jere Lehtinen
    Germany - Olaf Kolzig
    Russia - None
    Slovakia - Jozef Stumpel
    Sweden - Henrik Lundqvist and Niclas Lidstrom
    USA - Bill Guerin

    Blues in the World Cup: 6 participating, 2 injured and 1 no-show.

    Team Canada: Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley, Vincent Lecavalier
    Injured: Chris Pronger, Steve Yzerman

    U.S.: Craig Conroy

    Slovakia: Pavol Demitra, Zdeno Chara

    As most people know, Nickolai Khabibulin turned down an offer to join Team Russia in order to concentrate on the upcoming season with the Blues.
