As well you can add possibles such as Tanner Kelly,Cade Lemmer,Ben Felicetti, McKay Hayes,Johnny Ulicny, Justin Brown,Ty Mcdonald,Eric Vitale,Sutter Muzzatti, all forwards
dmen include James Jodoin and Zak Kruszewski
Goalies include Matt Tovell and Jeff Botelho.
Not saying all will or would be ready but there will be options.

Or they will do like this year and already have the team made up. But they will say in the star there r open spots.

Two 2nds and two 4ths... plus their first round pick. That's four guys, plus an extra, who could make the club JUST from the draft. Add in any other draftees, trades, etc... no real issues.

A new 4th line with limited minutes is how they should tell the future players they r drafting in may.

A new 4th line with limited minutes is how they should tell the future players they r drafting in may.

Most players don't come into the OHL thinking "oh, I'm getting top-six minutes!" Everyone starts off on the third or fourth line, even Cuylle/Foudy/Johnston. Notice how Johnston proved himself and is now playing on the top two lines? Play hard, earn your minutes, you'll be fine; draft picks know this.

You mean guys like Luke Boka who last year at this time, had 4G,11A,now he has 14G,12A almost double the output, linemates that he had this year, same as last, already surpassed last year's goals he had 12,a nice year for him and if you can't acknowledge the improvement from him that is unfortunate and shows an anti bias toward said player.

Hard to not love them when they're having career seasons. All four lines are rolling right now and six or seven guys on pace to break last year's team scoring lead; tough to complain about that. What else you got?

Guess u could only guess what they could of gotten for such players in a trade this year if bowler did "anything" in a low draft board spits have for future years. Lol

Only 21- 2nd rd picks were traded this year lowest since 16/17,and only 32 players were traded around deadline time lowest in years market not there for trading good players.
I am not concerned at all,to me the future looks like, and the present has been pretty d a m n good too.

The decision to move nothing at the deadline was a little iffy. We have picks that could've been moved to bring in a player this year, we have players that could've been moved to bring in picks for next year (and beyond). However, look at the cost of Tomasino. SIX (of the 21 mentioned by HL) 2nd round picks, a 3rd, 2 4ths (and an 02' "committed" to MSU).

If we made a trade for a Tomasino, it would've put us in a great spot through 2021, and then severely messed up the future beyond it.

With how much added to the West, I don't mind moving nothing. Without a series Win this year, keeping Egor may feel like a bit of a waste, however, hanging onto him, may just be for the sake of saying, "hey look, another one of our guys is in the NHL" in the near future.

Sitting in 1st having 2 games on Kitchener and Saginaw and one game on the Knights, while being even with Guelph (up 6 points on) and Flint (up 10 points on), isn't a bad place to be more than halfway through the season.

Whatever is happening, as much of a surprise as it is... is working. I get the ideology behind if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Upcoming schedule has Erie (7th) at home, Saginaw (2nd) at home, London (4th) at home, then Sarnia (10th) on the road. Only 2 games per week over the calendar weeks.
Ending January vs. Flint, at London and AT OS 3 in 3, will be tough, so hopefully we can add up some extra points on this home stretch.

Exactly... if you’re going to push next year, you’re going to have to give chances to McDonald, maggio and Zito. It’s not hard to succeed when playing on the first line and getting double the ice.

What Windsor has or doing with their lineup upfront is no different then any other team in the league enjoying success to this point.
Perfect example Wyatt Johnston got his opportunity and has made the most of it,Zito got his chance with Foudy and Cuylle earlier, Maggio was bumped up earlier,McDonald unfortunately has been inconsistent at times, patience is my motto for the young players, their time will come, take advantage when given the opportunity.

Exactly.
It it good to see a guy that spits got for 2 seconds not playing? Yes i know he is sick but he was a scratch before that too.

Or just hope u r on this team in a few years. Become a vet in the league n this coach will play u. Hopefully u have enough experience by then with all the sitting going on previous years.

Was only scratched 3 games prior to illness, all players coming on to a team know the situation
Based on team results to date I would have done the same thing re usage of players.

Provided they don't move any before the draft Windsor will go into next year with:

5x 2NDS
3x 3RDS
5x 4THS
4x 5THS
6x 6THS

Not too bad but if they go all in they'll want to strengthen their draft board a bit before the season starts, particularly adding a couple of 2NDS and 3RDS. Not sure where they'll get those as any players who have the value to bring in the returns that'll help would also be players who would be needed on the roster as well. If they are looking at this getting them through the next couple of years as being competitive and pushing for long playoff runs, I don't think they have nearly enough to get things done as they'll be looking at replacing a minimum of 5 bodies from this years roster just to fill out the roster let alone any depth for injuries/suspensions and all that is provided everything goes their way and everyone returns, no one is moved to acquire picks etc.

While there are a couple of prospects who show some promise there's not a lot to be overly optimistic about. Yes things can change between now and training camp but at it stand?

Who is willing to report from the current pool of prospects and able to make the roster while contributing right away?

Tovell is one option in goal. Medina or Pirroinen would have to be moved and if Piiroinen were to be moved it's not optimal to have 2 18 year old goaltenders. Medina I would imagine has a full NTC so it could be tough to move him since Windsor went through a bit to get him here but he would probably carry a bit more value since he's not an import. I don't see any other realistic options in goal from who is currently in the system.

I don't see a lot of forwards lighting things up at lower levels right now. A couple of 03s have some promise so maybe by the time training camp rolls around they'll be ready for the next step.

There's a couple of D who could be more shutdown style D that could be solid additions if they'll report.

Cade Webber is drafted, committed to Boston U but is currently playing in BC. Does he have an issue with grades or is their D simply too deep for him to crack the roster? If it's grades or some other reason besides strength of roster you have to wonder why Windsor is on the outside looking in at this point. Strength of roster I can understand.

Zak Kruszewski we already know should be able to crack the roster, should have been here this year as a 7th/8th D just to ensure the commitment but if a team is going to pinch pennies they take the risk of losing him down the road. From what was said by those who saw training camp he was right on the edge of being ready so that was a mistake IMO.

Spencer Evans was a kid there was always hope he was going to report but after not coming to camp this year, having a commitment to Brown I don't think we see him unless he gets drafted and directed here by whoever drafts him. After this past offseason I have a feeling that ship has sailed.

Owen Shier may have one last shot this year but the training camp reports weren't very good so I'm not betting on him showing up and being a contributor. If he were to make the team it would be a Stevenson situation and if this team thinks they will be competing the next couple of years I don't think he has a realistic shot.

Ethan Strakey is a USNTDP kid with a commitment to Notre Dame so it's unlikely Windsor ever sees him here. If he did report it probably wouldn't be until the 2021/22 season at the earliest. He would be the only offensive D out of the group who could have a shot.

I don't think there is anyone else with a realistic shot of making the team or reporting (Fensore) from the current D prospects.

James Doyle could have some promise. He wasn't at training camp though and while he didn't have a commitment when he was drafted he has since made a commitment. I think he is probably 2021/22 at the earliest once he has gone through his draft year.

Sutter Muzzatti had some nice numbers when he was drafted. Not looking as good yet this year but not terrible. As an 03 he could have a shot next year but likely would be a fourth line/rotated player if next year is a year Windsor tries to compete. I doubt we see him if that's the type of role he would be coming into. No commitment so you never know but likely 2021/22 after his draft year is the earliest we would see him. Another one who wasn't at camp.

Ben Felicitti has some decent numbers but he is only playing Midget this year so that would be a big jump to Major JR.

Hunter McKown is a USNTDP player with no commitment. He was a flier pick who they should have had high hopes for but right now his numbers don't show him as someone who would contribute at this level. With no commitment and potentially no other options he may be willing to report but would he contribute enough to justify the cost?

Luke Tuch is another USNTDP player with a Boston U commitment. He's putting up decent numbers and would be a solid addition but his brother never showed up to Guelph so it's doubtful we ever see him in Windsor.

Johnny Ulicny is putting up decent numbers but hasn't been able to crack the roster the last two years. Is he still an option at this point? I don't know how much he would commit but being a year where they will need to have some players who can step in he may fit the bill.

McKay Hayes is similar to Owen Shier. He was expected to push for a roster spot this season but didn't have a great camp. He looks like he's getting a bit better as his season goes on and like Ulicny he may fit the bill if spots open up unexpectedly. Can he show well in camp?

Cade Lemmer has no commitment and was expected to be pushing for a roster spot this year but never showed up for camp. I think the offseason mess kept him away. Currently playing in the USHL his numbers are nothing special so whether he could still have a spot going forward is questionable.

Tanner Kelly is the same as Lemmer only he has a commitment to MSU. Playing USHL, numbers are nothing special and he's still pretty small. I doubt we ever see him in Windsor.

There's not much else with Windsor's current forward prospects. The ones I listed as having the potential to make the team next year in some instances I think that's a very generous thought.

Going into next year, if any of Angle/Douglas/Corcoran/Afanasyev graduate combined with the lack of prospect depth and the lack of picks this team will be in a worse position to start the year than this year. Of course things can change, we can draft 3 or 4 04 surprises that come in like Cuylle and Foudy and contribute from day 1 but I'm not expecting that. With 5 roster spots minimum to fill, potentially more if there's any unexpected graduations or any players dealt in the offseason this team will struggle to take advantage of another good start, moreso than this year.

Thanks for the update - I may not have the exact number but between fall of 2008 and fall of 2009 it was around 11 players that graduated. Both years they won the Memorial Cup - team now does not compare to the teams then but my whole point is it is all about your core players. If they stay the same them you can fill around them without much problem. Foudy, Cuylle, Rafkin, Robininson, Ladd, McDonald, Henault, Johnston and others are all back next year and are really the building blocks going forward. Nice to have Corcoran, Douglas, Angle back but at this point they are just bonus returns and it is the younger core that should be driving this team next year. At least in IMHO.
