It has just been announced in Ottawa that Willie O'Ree has been named to the Order Of Canada. The first Black Hockey player in the NHL, He entered the league in January 18th, 1958, donning the Black & Gold Sweater of the Boston Bruins.......... Mr O'Ree played on a line with Jerry Toppazzini & Centered by Don Mckenney... Congratulations, Mr. O'Ree.

Good for Willie, he deserves it. Although speaking as a Canadian I can safely say the award has lost a LOT of merit over the years with our government giving it out as frequently as a toy in a cereal box
