I mean this is already a good move by new coach.

Earlier this season Karlsson played with an injury too and Gallant just let him. You don’t do that with your best players. At some point you have to let them get out of the game and heal. Some injuries can get worse if not handled properly.

Agreed. Karlsson hasn’t even been effective recently so we have already been missing him in a big way. Might as well keep him out until he heals up.

Forgot to bring this up earlier:
Karlsson has taken the most faceoffs on the team and was at 51.2% on draws this year.
His percentage started going down around when he started his slump too, which further indicates he played with an injury.

He is a great 2C all around. We need to not let him play with injuries so that he stays that way for 8 (or more) seasons!

I like Karlsson on the 3rd line...when Glass comes back.

That is a 3rd line that will produce for us; it will be fast AF.

So in the 7 games before the Buffalo game when he put up zero points he was healthy? He scored 2 goals in his last 27 games. Curious if he had anything else bothering him. Hopefully this break helps him out.

His production was MUCH better in the first 22 games. 8 goals, 15 assists. In the last 27 he put up 2 goals and 9 assists.

And I thought he was unlucky earlier in the season and could have definitely scored more than that with some better luck. Him and Patches early on definitely had a lot of great chances.

Wasn't just his production going down. At the 22 game mark he was at the top of expected goals(he was #1 at times), was our best player on the dot by a lot, etc. Those next 27 games saw everything taking a hit, including his willingness to shoot the puck and defensive work(!).

The reason he didn't take faceoffs to start the season was because he fell on his hand, it could be that it never healed and that slash was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Could also be that he had some minor injuries, or wasn't injured, who knows, Stone had a 17 game stretch with 6 points while playing with a steaming hot Patches.

Lets hope the derailing factor was injury related, though, because that 22 game Bill was a true 1C.
