Not really, everyone is scoring more this year basically

Like I said, goals per game are up .07 over last year. Teams are averaging 3.04 goals per game. Last year they averaged 2.97. Scoring is up very marginal.

You’ve heard of injuries and people just not playing well right?

Also, goals per game compared to last year are up a whopping .07 per game.

The studs in the league are accounting for more points by their teams. Goal scoring is hardly up at all though.

0.7 eh, you must have not done stats ever lol

Did you not see the statistical proof? Look at the link.

Teams are scoring .07 more goals per game compared to last year. How hard is that to understand?

Don't think Crosby gets 100. The Pens have had some pretty easy teams to play against lately. Only 3 of the last 10 games were against playoff teams. 7 of their next 10 are against playoffs teams. He cannot keep up the same scoring pace against the better teams.

He doesn’t need to keep this pace he’s had of 25 pts in his past 12 games.

He only needs 14 pts in his last 16 games. He’s almost never scored at that low a pace. He should hit 100 in his sleep from here on in.

Hard to see Crosby not running into 14 points in 16 games. Unless their PP goes completely ice cold or he misses games due to injury, he should get 100.

Penguins finish with a home and home against Detroit and then Rangers.

He could get the majority of the 14 in those 3 games with the teams they will probably be icing by the end of the year.

Actually, in the first 16 games of 2019 he only had 14 points. So just a month ago that was a pace he was on. He's heated up at a above average rate lately, but I still don't think that's sustainable as competition gets higher, games get tighter and playoff battles heat up.

24-31 in 17 won't be easy...my fantasy team could use it though since playoffs have started

He’d have to keep up the same insane pace to get that high. He will get just north of 100. A PPG gets him to 102. I’ll say the highest he goes is 105.

Actually his first 16 games of 2019 (which date from Jan 2 to Feb 5) he had 9 goals and 12 assists for 21 pts in those 16 games.

Sidney Crosby 2018-19 Game Log | Hockey-Reference.com

Anyhow, the phrase “almost never scored as low as 14 pts in 16 games” insinuates that it isn’t impossible, just highly unlikely. You could take any 16 game portion from the start of his career until today and scoring as low as 14 pts in that span would be super rare. It’s something that’s almost never happened. It’s highly unlikely to happen in the next 16 games of his career.

you think he will magically score at a lower rate and below PPG because?... no logic there, sounds more like wishful thinking on your end.

Crosby is not as naturally skilled as Malkin imo. He needs to exert much more energy to pick up points, his game has always been more akin to a supremely skilled grinder. As Crosby has gotten older he simply doesn't play as balls to the wall as he did game in game out as a youngster.

Malkin can somehow come out with 2 points even when he plays poorly. It's not surprising to me that he's aging better when it comes to point production ability. Crosby can still do it when needed (21 points in 12 games in the playoffs), but he can't pick up points effortlessly the way Malkin can.
This expert analysis didn’t age too well.

It is still true. Malkin plays like ass and is still getting pts. When Crosby plays like ass, he’s doesnt get the same number of pts as Malkin. This proves why Malkin is more naturally skilled.

This year Crosby has the 4th highest ppg rate in the league. He's currently on pace for 108 points. The Pens, as a team, have the 5th best offense in the league. Crosby tends to elevate his game when the Pens need it most/against good teams.

As such, it would be surprising if Crosby didn't hit 100 points this season. Barring injury, of course.
