Anybody that doesn't vote for McDavid is pretty dumb. Not only has he clearly had the best season of any player, he also plays on a weaker, shallower team than other candidates and is very clearly more valuable to his team.

Are you aware of the spelling mistake in your username?

Isn’t the voting for the major trophies voted on by members of the different this year?
I believe only 2 members of the media from each market get a vote. With maybe a few additional media members who are national media members getting votes.

I don’t think there is any doubt McDavid should be first on every ballet. But I also wouldn’t be surprised to see someone else get votes by writers who want to be contrarian or who just want attention.

Every voter who makes questionable votes "backs up" their reasons. But that doesn't mean they present very strong or valid reasons.

I don’t think there is any question that McDavid will easily win the Hart, if several other players get 1st place votes it won’t be the end of the world.

He also plays quite a bit with Leon but it doesn’t really matter this year as he is winning it going away.

He should be but there’s gonna be idiots who vote for the hometown guy.

Like that Pittsburgh guy and Crosby.

I think personally Matthews will get a couple of undeserved votes. This year, Matthews was special, but mcdavid was something above that

He probably won’t get a unanimous win but he probably should.

Lots of homers wont vote for him.

For example, I dont think Joe Haggerty has ever not voted for a Bruin.

At least Rossi backs up his claim.

The Hart and most valuable player tag leaves it a bit open to interpretation and I think at least 3 votes goes elsewhere.
I struggle to see how Rossi backed up his claim though. Arguing that McDavid is not the most valuable player to his team is just as nonsensical as arguing that McDavid is not the best player. There’s no logical argument for either.

Some will legitimately vote for Matthews if they feel goals are much more important than points. Someone will vote Vasilevsky or Hedman because they think the position is harder/more important. Some will be homer donkeys or contrarians “just cuz.”

I recently posted this in another thread. Since 1980, there have been eight seasons where a player took 95%+ of the first-place votes for the Hart trophy:

I don't think McDavid wins unanimously. It's only happened once in all of NHL history (going back to the 1920's). And there were far fewer voters in the 20th century - you're more likely to get a contrarian or shameless homer in a pool of around 150 voters, as opposed to a pool of around 60 voters.

Still, I expect McDavid will end up in the top five on the list, making it the most decisive Hart trophy of the 21st century.

LOL, the bold - OV was missing from a ballot? After scoring 65 goals? That's a pretty incompetent voter.

Should be.

I think they publish now who votes for who on the Hart, I’d love to see the scolding for whoever doesn’t vote for the best season and player since Lemieux.

There will be one or two attention seeking edge lords that don't put him first with some terrible justification to try and get more clicks on their blog.
