Doubt it, Teams can talk (limited) to UFA June 25 I believe. No point in giving up an assets now to talk to J-Dub.

I would contend that Williams is much more valuable than Soderberg. Same situation, Bruins could not sign due to cap restraints, so they got a 6th.

Soderberg is also 29 years of age, will be 30 at seasons start.

Justin Williams will be 34 years of age in October.

I don't see why a team would spend a pick to talk to Williams, when they already can (limited)

They can just wait till July 1st, to get into serious talks.

And he's played a lot of hockey at 34, 1033 games played including playoffs.

He has and most likely always will let a UFA just walk without any "compensation". i'm fine with it, i never liked the idea of trading UFAs to begin with.

I would be disappointed in Dean if he gave up anything to negotiate with Williams exclusively if the shoe were on the other foot.
