LaxSabre - Congrats Will! Hopefully the Sabres mention that he won a bronze medal before tonights game vs Florida.
Then have him attend a future game - if its possible - and be honored with something like a plaque.
You could have someone like Eichel-Reinhart-Ristolainen or all three - give him the plaque.

Seemed to me Borgen was uneven in the round-robin, getting up to the pace and the level of competition. By the medal round he was without a doubt the #1 USA defender for breaking the puck out of the zone. Skating it out past a forecheck, stretch passes on the tape, turning it back to his partner when nothing was there. While the rest of the defense was wilting under forecheck Borgen was calming things down and always making the right play. Combine that with being by far the toughest and meanest of the American defense and he did everything you want to see a defenseman do that will translate to the next level. He's shooting up my next prospect rankings whenever that happens. I still favor Guhle because of his pre-season showing and handedness but there's not as much separation as I thought.

I didn't catch a minute of Team USA in the WJC and didn't watch much at all to be honest but it sounds like we made another solid pick with Borgen. Good to hear.

Pronman liked Borgen's game at the WJC, listing him as one of the "surprises" of the tourney:

Will Borgen, D, Buffalo Sabres
Tournament stats: 7 GP | 0 G | 3 A

Borgen was a fourth-round pick last season out of high school who had never previously represented USA Hockey or even gone to an under-20 camp. We had notes on him as a decent prospect last summer, but his coming in and providing quality top-four minutes for the U.S. with less than 40 high-level hockey games played in his career was the shocker of the tournament for me. He skates well for a bigger player, showed very good hockey IQ making defensive stops and making outlet passes. His offense isn't high-end by any means, but he looks like a mid-tier NHL prospect.

On Murray's latest WGR interview, they asked him what the highlight of his 8-day scouting trip was; Murray's longest scouting trip in over a decade, apparently. He saw Fasching a lot, as well as many other Sabres prospects and 2016 draft eligables. He answered pretty quickly that seeing Borgen play two games was the highlight of the trip. He seems extremely high on this guy. Looks like his WJC play wasn't a fluke - he could be the real deal. Murray's first big draft steal?

We will see. Buffalo has had alot of picks in the 2nd/3rd round the last few years. A few of them will pan out.

Borgen today didn't look anywhere as good as WJC. Positioning was suspect, chasing the puck a lot, passes off the mark. He didn't really get burned for it, his teammates got behind the ball early. But I'll revise my estimates on seasoning. It'll take some time.

@SabresProspects - Congrats to Sabres D prospect Will Borgen for being named to the 2015-2016 NCHC All-Rookie Team.

Will Borgen (Moorhead, Minnesota) - St. Cloud State - led all NCHC freshman blue liners with 11 assists in 22 conference games.
The Sabres prospect also posted a plus-13 rating, which was third among NCHC rookies and blocked 27 shots.

Borgen added an assist on an ENG tonight as SCSU completed their QF sweep of WMU. They're still in position for one of the one-seeds in the NCAA tournament and await the winners of DU-UNO, likely DU, in the semis.

Solid showing at Dev Camp. Would anyone have thought he'd have picked up 4 goals in the 3-on-3 tournie today?
