Well the original package isn't worth Karlsson and Hoffman is worth more than two 2nds, so the only way that works is if you're also taking a cap dump from Ottawa like Bobby Ryan or Marian Gaborik.

I could see the Blues interested in Hoffman but the timing doesn't mesh up as they'll be all in on JT or another center and the draft will have already passed by.

Just a bit of a PSA, Gaborik likely will go the way of Hossa and have ~80% of his contract paid out by insurance. I don't think him and Ryan are comparable in that sense.

I think Gaborik (LTIR for rest of contract) for Paul Martin would be the type of Gaborik trade that we see.
