To Wild: Panarin with contract extension somewhere around 8x8.5

To Blue Jackets: Niederreiter, Eriksson Ek and 2019 2nd round pick

Wild get Panarin, and get what they've been missing for years, an elite offensive player. Parise just cant be that guy anymore. Panarin also plays in much larger market, might not be Chicago or New York but the State of Hockey has some die hard fans.

Blue Jackets get Niderreiter who wont replace Panarin's scoring but will hold a top 6 role nicely. Get extremely nice piece in Eriksson Ek who can probably crack their top 9 and have an impact right away. Also get a 2nd to balance the trade with Panarin extension. Getting a nice return rather than losing him for noting.

They'd probably try to deal Kaprizov, Nino, and a second instead. They need the center and dont want to wait for Kaprizov to come over in 2 years when there already very small window is closed. I also think that the Jackets would try to move Panarin for a top 6 center. I'll give an example from my team, like an RNH + deal. Or from a team like Florida for Borgstrom ++ since Borgstrom is still unproven.

There is no point, he isn’t going to sign a long term deal in Minnesota.

Move along, nothing to see here.

I do not think Panarin to Minnesota is likely at all. He doesn't want out of Columbus, but rather he wants "in" to a few select markets like LA or NYC.

Based on speculation by someone with no inside connection. In fact, the most reputable source (his own camp) has only said he is reluctant to sign with Columbus.

"With extention" threads are useless. Panarin has 1 year term left which has gigantic effect on the value.

Worth 20th + 2x2nd on the trade deadline as a rental.

This is not a good proposal. If he's signed long term, Granlund is coming back. The rest of those pieces don't do anything for the Jackets. The Jackets are not short on second-liners.

He'd be worth several times that as a rental.

Can Nino play LW? And his last season doesn't inspire much confidence going forward, nor does it make this proposal look very good..

He can play both RW and LW. He's probably better at LW actually. He broke his leg early last season which affected his play the rest of the season. When he was healthy for a full year under Boudreau's system, he was a 25 goal scoring 60 point player.

Probably should depend on where Columbus sits in the standings. If they’re in a playoff spot why would they trade him and hurt their chances in the playoffs?

That would be a tough choice. If they get bounced, they lose him for nothing.

Hell, if they sell him earlier, they can get something that will help them make the playoffs.

If there is any doubt about making the playoffs, then trading Panarin for Neiderreiter and futures would quickly put the dagger in those hopes.

Do you really think Columbus would trade their best forward for that kind of return? Cmon now lol we would just keep him

I don't, but that is the value for high end rental. Most likely scenario is Panarin leaving for nothing after CBJ makes gargantuan offer to appease the fanbase.

Niederreiter>Granlund, he is by no means a 2nd liner

Are you saying that Nino is a better player than Granlund? Because he isn't. It's not particularly close at the moment, either, though if Nino has a bounce back year it will at least be closer.

And this is a coming from a somewhat notorious Granlund critic.

If you can't say something intelligent, say something controversial?
nino had a down season but he is still one of the most well rounded wingers in the NHL today, a top-tier play driver and defensive winger and a corsi monster.
