If anything the Uber video probably bought him a week or two if the Sens didn't want to come off as being reactive to something they saw as voyeuristic.

It was pretty clear prior to the video that Wideman would be the odd man out eventually.

deecent offensive talent is probably below average in his own end

He was a good skater but is still recovering from his injury last year ( i think) so maybe with more reps he can get some of that skating back

I mean, he's been a healthy scratch on what is probably the worst D core in the past 2 decades. Take that for what it's worth.

We are giving up 4+ goals a game and about 40 shots a game.

He used to be a kind-of-below-average-skating offensive defenceman who wasn't good enough to play top-4 minutes in an offensive role, and couldn't be bothered to play defence. He was an "offensive specialist on the 3rd pairing" guy.

Then he tore his hamstring super bad.

Now he's a dear-god-why-is-this-guy-not-able-to-keep-up offensive defenceman who wasn't good enough to play top-6 minutes in an offensive role, and still can't be bothered to play defence, and his skating is so bad that he's a regular healthy scratch on the worst blueline in the league.

You are paying a very small price for a reclamation project, who at best, if everything goes right and the stars align, will top out as a #5 or 6 guy on your blueline, and want to make you pull out your hair every time a team skates out of their own zone.

A lot of people were really high on him based on advanced stats, but watching him it is pretty evident that he is not capable of playing above sheltered bottom pairing minutes at ES.

He can QB a PP, but he's never been all that productive in the NHL.
