HNIC showed Burke at the Leafs game tonight.

Pre-game Elliotte Friedman said teams are calling the Leafs about Jake Gardiner and the Leafs said they will move him for an equivalent prospect or prospects.

Burke brought Gardiner to the Ducks, then to the Leafs.

In my submission, Burke's ACC appearance was Jake Gardiner related.

Probably doing team USA scouting. (Gardiner/Kessel/Anderson/JVR).

Rather Team USA scouting, or his wife/kids still have connections in Toronto.

Don't think it's anything. GMs scout other teams all the time without a deal being imminent.

I'm surprised he can even watch us play. It must hurt so bad.

They dont have any prospect they would give up that I would want for Gards.
They wouldn't give up Monahan or their first and no one else would interest me 1 for 1.

Maybe he was visiting his kids in Boston and made a stop in Toronto on the way back to catch a game?

Maybe he just wanted to grab a bite from Burkie's doghouse? Who knows??

plausible, but in October do you really need to have somebody with a full-time job doing something else at the game

    i think not

I dont know about now that he has the job in Calgary but his family was still living here when he was scouting for the ducks.

The Flames don't have the assets to get Gardiner.

The only two pieces that would interest the Leafs are Sean Monahan or their upcoming Top 5 pick.

Loosening his tie and admiring his past work accomplishments while enjoying a tidy scotch?

That's what I saw and what I would also do.

    Burke is a good man.

He's probably got more professional reasons though :D

It was funny because after the close-up, the players that were on ice, save from the goaltender, were ALL acquired by him.

i agree and i can't pretend to know calgary's prospect lineup

i do know burke has a tonne of cap space, loves jm liles, and if he would take jake AND liles' contract i wouldn't need an absolute superstar prospect coming back

Calgary Flames acquire Jake Gardiner from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for CGY 1st 2014, CGY 1st 2015 and CGY 2nd 2014.

    Make it happen.

Serious note, he is most likely there for team USA scouting.

Maybe hes looking at Reimer. I would not hesitate for a Reimer deal as long as its worth it. We must move one of them and as much as a love Reimer he has basically been told your only #1 if Bernier doesnt pan out.

Move Reimer for Monohan/Beartschi/ 1st thats all i would accept from them. even the 1st id be iffy about.

Old man Burkie can haunt the halls as often as he wants to as far I am concerned. He wasn't a great fit for a long term GM with his truculent attitude but you gotta give the man kudos for changing the lineup from depressing to dangerous.
