Why trading Malkin might be beneficial for the Penguins

Just like Pens fans have said a thousand times, the Pens aren't trading Malkin. The Pens issues aren't related to their core. Their issue is heavily overpaying role players, declining old players or simply needless players. Ehrhoff, Spaling, Kunitz, Dupuis, Scuderi, and even Sutter are all bad contracts for various reasons. Trading Malkin doesn't solve any issues.

That'll be hard since no many big money players are expiring in 2016.

Martin & Ehroff expire this year and thats it.

Kunitz & Dupuis dont expire until 2018, same with Scuderi.

Kunitz, Dupuis , Scuderi , Contrats expire in 2 seasons 2017

Agreed ,bad drafting is what has caused most of these issues.Drafting solid bottom 6 guys and bottom pairing defenders. In lower rounds helps keep costs down

Kane-Geno-Eichel
Reinhart-Girg-Ennis

I hope good ole JR will do this just for the sake of Malkin's career.

Reinhart , Kane, 1st rd pick 2016 and Malkin needs to save his own career if theirs a trade or not.

Which team gives the Penguins the kind of players you suggest in a trade for Malkin?

Any way you look at it, Pittsburgh loses a trade involving Malkin. The other team always gets the best guy, and the Penguins get spare parts.

Trading Malkin really would be nuts.

Blues could do it. Just saying.

Drafting has also been a huge issue. Not drafting any forwards is why we had to sign Kunitz and Dupuis to those contracts. Either way, that's another issue that needs fixed, but that doesn't include trading Malkin. The Pens need to cut dead weight and add youth and speed throughout their roster. They can do that without trading Malkin.

Malkin to San Jose for a package around Couture makes a lot of sense to me. Both teams need a shake-up.

Malkin to Edmonton for a package around RNH would also make sense.

Forget RNH IT needs to be Eberle or Hall + in return With Malkin gone Crosby's line will have to be great and a top winger is needed.

Yep Pittsburgh is a playoff team ,but i dont see them going hog wild at the deadline for a while, they need to restock their pipeline .The will try to add more picks where they can, and look to reload for another serious run in a couple of years:nod:
