Why not Kopitar for Selke?

Last year he should have been nominated.

If anything his style isn't great to get past the ECB. He's just always in the right position. That's not as dramatic has man on man defense.

Before and probably after, he needs to at least be in the discussion, but I have zero issue with the three nominees this year.

Kopitar is never going to get a Selke.

He would have to lead the league in take-away's for it to happen.

Don't think Kopitar has ever even been in the top Five of steals.

Selke is basically a junk award anyway, more and more it goes to the best offensive player that also excels on defense rather than the best defensive forward. Kopitar is constantly overlooked, it seems like the Datsyuk-Toews-Kesler trio has the noms to lose. I was very pleased to see Bergeron nominated, he has had a helluva season.

That said, where is the eye test that can show a big gap between Kopitar and any of those guys with the exception of Datsyuk? Great positionally, doesn't cheat for his offense and has a GREAT stick.
